Okay, I was gonna complain about giving Beetlejuice an origin story, but this one is so batshit bonkers that it works.

Well THAT explains a LOT.
Although...a lot of people were speculating that BJ committed suicide because he's working in Civil Service,
this shows he never WILLINGLY took his own life, BUT...
because it was TECHNICALLY by his own hand, it COUNTS as suicide.

Ladies and Gentleman, I just had a realization: In the first film, it's revealed that those who commit suicide end up becoming social workers in the underworld. Though Delores gave the Juice poison in a cup, he drank it, thereby killing himself, which is why he ended up working with Juno before becoming a bioexercist. Delores doomed him! XD

Bob: "You... are an Italian?" 😮

Beatlejuice: "Florentine. When I was alive we were a Republic... And yes: I knew Dante Aligeri... he still owns me some money!" 🧐

I love that we finally get to see his origin story, not only that but the origin story stays consistent with what Burton established in the first film.

Beetlejuice in the first film: I was in the black plague and I had a pretty good time during that, u see him in the black plague enjoying himself as he steals jewelry from corpses, which also explains how he got some of his jewelry.

Also in the first film when he was trying to marry Lydia he pulls out a severed finger with the wedding ring still attached, then we see him killing his ex-wife/murderer with an ax, which explains her severed finger.

This clip alone already shows that Burton has done a good job keeping it close to the first film but also expanding what he had already introduced in this world.

The character is DECADES old with a cartoon AND a broadway musical. How on earth did they manage to make a solid background and origin story for him? I know Tim Burton is here but by today's standard too many have lost the understanding of their characters like the ones behind Batman and Harleyquinn. Seeing BeetleJuise being so legit Beetlejuice feels like finding a clean bathroom in a gasstation!

God this is a blessing!

I love that the backstory is done in the style of Mario Bava's "Black Sunday" ("La maschera del demonio"). He also referenced it in Sleepy Hollow.
