Okay guys this is the 2nd part of what I'm calling "The Wu Trilogy". Here I go into detail with the tragedy of Dr. Henry Wu! In Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park, Dr. Wu displays a great deal of ignorance and lack of respect for the natural world. We can see BD Wong showcase this really well in Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. In 1993 we didn't really get to dive too deep into Wu's psyche with Jurassic Park but thankfully the newer films are exploring it in full. The Indominus Rex is something that has origins traced back to the chapter "Version 4.4" which is something I think you all should check out immediately! :D

It's not a story ingen would tell you, it's a park legend. He was a scientist, so powerful and so wise, he could influence genetics to create life.

Simon Masrani: "I NEVER ASKED FOR A MONSTER!"

Henry Wu: "Monster is a relative term. To a canary, a CAT is a monster. We're just used to being the cat."

Wu is honestly such a weird but cool character. His creation, the Indominus rex, murders over a dozen people and he responds with, _”that’s unfortunate, ”_ in the most *careless, calm* voice ever.
Straight badass, just doesn’t give a fuck. Lol.

When you were describing the part about "entertainment vs reality" in the Dr Wu vs Hammond conversation. A thought struck my mind about how close this was to a commentary that could be made on the movie-going-audiences and critics of today. They don't want to be surprised, they want their expectations.... food for thought.

I love Henry's quote from Jurassic World, it explains so well as to why the Dinosaurs in the films aren't 100% the same as their ancient ancestors. Which is why I'm not bothered when the Raptors have no feathers... unlike some people.

I think BD Wong really gives a chilling performance and I can’t wait to see if he returns in 2021.

A fantastic re-enactment of that classic novel scene! Kudos to you. I would have loved to see Richard Attenborough and BD Wong perform it.

I, too, appreciate how the new films draw inspiration from Crichton's work in creating the logical development for Wu''s character.

Henry Wu is probably the most intriguing and fascinating character from the entire Jurassic Park franchise.

And from pragmatic perspective...yeah, he is right.

He had all the best lines in Jurassic World. I really like Dr. Wu in the book, and find how Wong portrays him quite compelling. I hope they give him more to do in the next film.

In the Novel, Wu didn't really deserve his death. But the Movie counter part should get the novel Death.

It's interesting to see the differences, as well as the themes from both book and film.

Personally, I think his motivations, especially after what we saw in Fallen Kingdom, are more due to what Malcom said to him in the very first movie. That Wu could not really control nature. Wu was convinced that he had the animals so controlled by their DNA that nothing would deviate from what he intended. From the first film, he absolutely was unwilling to consider the idea of the dinosaurs breeding, Malcom said that life finds a way because life won't be contained. Low and behold, Malcom was right. Whether he was entirely honest in Jurassic World regarding the Indominus, he sounded very surprised at how it was capable of camouflaging itself and masking it's heat signature because of certain genetics he put into it. Of course it broke out and destroyed the 2nd Park. In Fallen Kingdom we then saw that he was trying to build a dinosaur that could actually be controlled, the Indoraptor, but of course it was not ready and it too ran amuck. We saw that he stated that he owned Blue's Genome and that he was outraged to find out they used rex blood in a transfusion to save her.

While it's clear he definitely does want to improve on what Nature achieved on it's own, I feel that given how often things go wrong with what he creates, that subconsciously he is fighting a battle against Ian Maclom's declaration that he could not really control nature. He might be able to create amazing things but to try and control something such as these dinosaurs is clearly beyond what even his brilliant mind is capable of.

I like how they evolved his character in the movie. It makes you wonder if the event at Jurassic world was a inside job

every-time I watch your videos on Michael Crichton's books I'm always creeped out. You talk about the books in such depths, and add on the music in the back ground that you always have, *I have Chills. You do a really good job at telling all of us about the dark side and mystery of Jurassic park. Thanks for the videos you post, keep it up.

All Henry wanted was domesticated dinosaurs, but Hammond said everything is fine, no need to change anything.

Very good video Klayton. I've always loved the Novels just as much as the movies. One of the highlights and my favourite part in the novel is Nedry's death.

"we;ve merely reconstucted it, or a version of it anyway..."

THAT GOES INTO THE IDEA OF DE-EXTINCTION!
