The Wheel Of Time 1x08 | War of Fal Dara | Nynaeve and Egwene Powers

The Trollocs descend on the Borderland fortress city of Fal Dara. Egwene and Nynaeve join a small group of channelers. Lady Amalisa, they're able to tap into Nynaeve and Egwene's massive power. Amalisa seems to get drunk on the experience. So much so, she burns herself out (and Nynaeve and two other women) just as she uses the One Power to obliterate the Trollocs.

I feel this scene shows something important to the non book readers. 1. Linking amplifies your power immensely. Lady Amalisa could barely channel to light a candle, but here, linked with 2 untrained women and two other (assumed) weak channelers, she was able to destroy a Trolloc hoard. 2. Having a little training is as dangerous as having none. 3. The One Power is intoxicating. Lady Amalisa cannot let go, and the look on her face is rapturous. 4. Wielding too much One Power can and will kill you.

So if a couple of untrained channelers can kill 10.000 Trollocs. What can trained Aes Sedai's do? What can the dragon reborn do?
It completly breaks the system, when they can do shit like that. And then the whole ressurection part is even worse!

Nice flashy effects, but its things like this that will ruin the show. Especially the resurrection - even if she was only "mostly dead" the show plays it like she's dead. It's a fake out. Fake outs always hurt the story in the long run. Destroys the stakes.

I haven’t read the books and I do t think this scene is book accurate but did Egwane resurrect Nynaeve or was it ‘nynaeve power’ that reserected herself?

Linking doesn't double your power. While linked, both can do more than the other could do unaided, but their ability is not added together. All 5 linked together is quite a bit, but it's nowhere near what they make it out to be. Nynaeve wouldn't even be able to access her full potential at this point. It wasn't until book 5 that she had full command of her power, an that was only while she was angry.

One of the things I hate in the WOT, and it's present in the books too, is how EVERY main character is given huge plot armor. If you're a main character, you're suddenly the best channeler or toughest fighter. With a few simple lessons, you can defeat seasoned Aes Sedai or warriors who've trained for decades. All the main characters become the best in their chosen fields in very short order.

I think this is what destroyed the first season to be honest. This should have been done by Rand. If they wanted to show what linking does they should instead have made it so that Moiraine managed to link with Rand (much more plausible than four untrained channelers linking from nowhere), giving Moiraine and Rand uncontrollable power. Rand could have been completely in shock from all the power but managing to kill the army thanks to Moiraines help. After the battle Moiraine would have felt sorry for the boy as she has felt the true power and responsibility he has to carry alone. Would have made for a great ending and also building up the Dragon reborn.

I haven’t read the books but what I have herd that TWOT has a hard magic system I don’t think book readers will like the Miraculous healing but it’s a cool scene and know why they did it
