First off, they're both Sangiovese-based and come from the Chianti region.

Chianti Classico is a sub-region of Chianti and the wine must be at least 80% Sangiovese. It also must be aged a minimum of 18 months before release.

Chianti Superiore is from the macro area of Chianti and must have at least 1 point more alcohol that regular Chianti.
