CitizenCon 2951 - What You Need To Know
LATEST STAR CITIZEN PATCH ALPHA 3.15 EVOCATI

Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project by Cloud Imperium. It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS once in game.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development.
I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen's PU by the end of 2022 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered "feature complete" which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion.
Squadron 42 will not be released before 2022.

I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. I am not paid by Cloud Imperium HOWEVER I am an Evocati Member and as such I am under an NDA for Closed Early Patch Tests of Star Citizen', known as the Evocati Test Flight (ETF). They occasionally offer me ships for giveaways too, which I will take if they are truely NO STRINGS ATTACHED.
GameGlass, Shadow & NordVPN referrals give me a small kickback, however I am not paid by them for any specific videos or promotion. Unless Otherwise Stated.

I actually really like the more modest approach to showing what's coming

I think that this year's Citizencon was the most honest if a bit lackluster, so I really appreciate that

I'm glad what they showed was stuff we can expect "soon", and actually real gameplay.

I was honestly satisfied with the event. I appreciated they showed a demo of something coming in the near future as opposed to something thats so far off that by the time we get there, it's all different anyway.

I'm excited to try 3.15, though. I'm really itching to actually looting the poor guys stuck in the cave for all eternity until I liberate them with violence.

I think this was an excellent CitCon specifically because they gave us a more concrete and grounded view of the future.

I would have liked a deeper dive into some aspects, but overall think their new development and PR model is better for both the game and the community.

Thank you for the summary. I felt like it was a no bullshit event. I think this approach was great.

I love the option to be a sneaky boy and try to steal things.

Being my first CitizenCon, it was more exciting than I expected. They mentioned almost every subject that I was hoping to hear about.

I was hoping to hear when we were going to get personal hangers back and what exactly what that would look like. Would personal hangers be instanced at your chosen home port? If so, would we have to pick which hanger is instanced there, or would we get 3 personal hangers? Would the hanger we get be considered by which port we choose? Are the hangers pre-determined, meaning you get "X" hanger at specific locations?

I was also expecting a bit on players starting on their own personal habs when they choose a home port. IE: Having the ability to "return Home" at the habitation buildings. I was expecting some mention of elements like this during the server meshing discussion. Maybe they did briefly mention it, and I was away at that moment.

citizencon was fine in my opinion, the fact that they had the opportunity to go in depth on technical things that they're working on showing the complexity of the tasks felt better to hear than just fluff that some people expected to witness. dont get me wrong, some fluff is good, and i think showing off the 400i, the bmm, and the new ground based missions was pretty sweet though

I confess, I re-installed SC for the 3.15 patch but all I've really done with it is screw around with the inventory system like a dork. lol.

I really loved this CitizenCon (my first watched live one) something that nobody talks about but for me is incredibly satisfying is the landing sound effect made by the 400I, you feel it landing, there no more supressors on your spacecraft that's important for immersion and of course so hyped for Pyro and very happy to see that tech is coming along !

That gun plays looks so much nicer. I’ve always thought the key to satisfying weapons is a noticeable effect when a weapon hits an enemy.

Shards and movement towards server meshing was what I was most excited about!

Thank you for telling me what I need to know.

...Why does everything I say sound sarcastic? I am genuinely thankful damn it!

I liked the lack of pie in the sky, though they stayed optimistic. Got a lot of good dirt on how things will *actually* be working in the near future, while discussing where they hope to take it. They kept it measured. They could've stacked the day better (and held off 3.15 PTU talk till the end!), but I thought this CitizenCon matched the desire for solid data and honest talk these times warrant.

It wasn't necessarily the CitizenCon we wanted... but it was the CitizenCon we needed. And you've done a great job covering it, Bored n' Zin! Cheers! ;)

Thanks for the synopsis. I agree that there wasn't anything that popped out this year. One of these days I'd love to get to one in-person

Sadly I wasn't able to watch it live but it was stull really cool.
And I also like that they showed something that we can expect soon-ish.

It's great to see an exploration ship that's designed in such a way that the vehicle does not take up cargo space; as such with so many other exploration ships. Also to finally see the next system Pyro coming is exciting! 2 down 148+ to go we're getting there! Great video thanks for the summary!
