Black paint would show those small dents that lighter colors tend to hide.
I just repaired my Trooper hood that must have had over 100 dents from walnuts falling over several years. It was parked under a walnut tree. But I used body filler and repainted. I count only about 7 on the roof, so this other method seems worth trying.

Thanks for sharing. Wish you had shown a closeup of tapping that high down.

The video is a great explanation of how pdr glue tools work. A very small dent made smaller but not gone. These tools kind of work on a no larger than pea sized dent. A dent you really wouldn't care about anyway. I increased the strength of the glue 7 fold by cooling the metal with ice. Still doesn't work. Total waste of time. Hope this helps

I wonder how thorough new car dealerships are at repairing a lot full of new cars damaged by a hailstorm? I know in Tyler, TX the Ford dealership is advertising 'hail sale' cars, claiming that you can't tell that they were ever dented.
The Carfax or AutoCheck reports will always rat those vehicles out, at resale time.

God, that spider. I would have used that tab on the spider.

PDR takes a lot of practice. A LOT. It's not some easy DIY job as some videos show. Glue pulling is never 100% accurate. It's always best if you can get a tool underneath the dent. In most cases, Glue pulling is usually a last resort for dents you can't put a tool underneath. You can usually always get a tool in locations coming from under the hood, behind front fenders, doors, rear quarters. Drop the roof liner and you have access to nearly the entire roof. The rails are where you have to decide if you are going to Glue pull or actually get old school body shop techniques to fix and paint. Honestly, that reflector board is not a good choice to see the dents for a DIY beginner. Or for a Pro for that matter. Those are really used only for outside on sunny days. If you're inside, use a good LED PDR light. Also, there are many types of Glue that can be used for different temperatures and different types of metal pulls. Aluminum is a whole different animal!! Most PDR professionals refer to old school techniques when it comes to vehicles with Aluminum hoods/doors etc.. they usually let the body shops handle that. Which usually is replacing with a new part. Etc..

Also, as video showed, It's best to do Glue pulling inside in controlled environments. Depending on the temperature, you don't have to leave the tab on for more than 15-20secs. You can usually tell after your 1st pull. If you leave the tab on too long, it does nothing at all. If you pull too soon, it does nothing at all. Also, highly recommend wearing gloves for Glue pulling. Glue gets extremely hot out of the gun. Which, I'm honestly surprised those pulls on this video did anything. Didn't seem like they got a good pull, no snap at all. In fact, the Glue seemed gummy. Again, PDR, glue pulling etc, takes a lot of practice and skill. On top of that, you also have to learn how to tap down your high spots. That's a talent in itself. One tap too hard, and now you have a low in a high spot! Also, for those that don't know, if the dent is too deep, it's stretched the metal. In some cases if you Glue pull, the paint will come off. Which brings to another point. You can't Glue pull on a car that's been repainted. You run risk of pulling the paint off.

Insurance jobs for hail repairs are high for a reason. It's not easy to repair. It's a process. I'd highly suggest taking your car to a professional before any DIY. You may do more damage than good. But good luck to anyone who thinks they can do it. If you have a black car, every mistake you make will show. White, silver cars are more forgiving. Good luck!

I'm surprised you got the dent to come up at all. The glue popped loose with the slightest pull.

Why do people always overanalyse these diy methonds? 😂 *omg it takes 75 years experience and literal devil magic to pdr* if someone is doing it this way, let them. They cant afford to pay someone $500 for a pea sized dent.

What about instead of glue, the clear double sided alien tape? Random I know ..

Abigail.... your eyes so blue ... they turn the sky grey even on a sunny day...

The PDR is a crap product. The glue does not come off as easily as the video. Destroys the finish on the car and the dents remain. Do not waste your money.
