On today show I discuss the reMarkable 2 vs the iPad Pro in a writing video. This is about the stylus difference and why you may go with a e-ink device over a tablet like the iPad Pro.

The Quilla has been great, today I moved it into the back of the studio which was awesome then it refreshed to a good message did you catch that?

I have both an iPad Pro 10.5 and the RM 1 since years ... I started using the iPad to take notes (pencil 1) with the very rich App available such as Notability or GoodNotes (with the Paperlike ... I like it) ... When I have received my RM ... I have almost switched immediately on the RM for Note taking and replace any kind of paper note. Agree with you it replaces all your note paper books ... except if you need to use colors (in médecine for example). I use my iPad to read content, watch videos and do some drawing with Procreate. So, yes, they are complementary. But, as a matter of fact, they are both quite expensive ! Even the RM (or it’s competitors) is not cheap especially if you consider that it offers much less than an iPad offers.
Good video, very énergie and focused on real life.

Thanks JB and I agree 100% with your assessment of what each device is best for!

jb you are correct ... the use case will determine which device will suit the user the best, the problem is that to make the correct decision you will have to have a clear idea of what your "workflow" will be and you will have to" know" how each of the devices apps work ... if you do not you will only make the right choice by "chance" only ... watching as many videos as possible before you buy gives you the best chance of making the right choice without actually buy in each device and actually using them ... right now i have the ipad and paper notes ... i hate the glass feel, i bought the paperlike screen protector (it feels like slick paper) so i think i will be buying the remarkable to get control of the paper notes and make them more accessible ...

I’ve cancelled my rM2 order some weeks ago and currently going with an iPad Pro. It’s my all-in-one multi functional device I am using 6+ hours per day. I am using a Paperlike screen protector which is not perfect, but bottom line it’s still better than taking several devices with me.

Hello Jb again, I have the remarkable for 8 days now, and I also have an iPad Pro 1st gen with the 1st gen apple pencil, I have also put the 1st gen of paperlike screen protector.
I am somewhat disappointed with the remarkable, first of all, I don't like how my handwritten notes look on the companion apps, and in general with the zigzag issue. Also, I thought the battery would last more.
Till I got the remarkable I was using my iPad as a note taking device and I had a very good combination between written and typed in text notes, it was suiting my style. I was using mainly the notability app which I have the same app on my app, and I could start typing notes on my mac and writing on top with the apple pencil and I was finding it really useful to be able to have both typed text and handwritten.
Another one feature that I am missing while using remarkable is the ability to draw straight lines and basic shapes, which is not possible on remarkable
On the other hand, the writing feel on my remarkable is very good, on Ipad even with the paperlike screen protector the feel is a lot glassy especially with the plastic nib that the apple pencil has, and I believe this is the main problem with the apple pencil the plastic nib. I used my remarkable pen on the iPad screen out of curiosity and it wasn't so bad... it wasn't as remarkable screen but a lot better from the apple pencil. Too shame we can't use Wacom pencils on the iPad.
Sorry for the long text I wanted to present all the good things you can do with iPad as a note-taking device in comparison with remarkable.
I am thinking of returning my remarkable, but I don't know what to do, shall I take the risk and buy another note taking device with e-ink screen, or invest in a new iPad pro with a combination of apple pencil and the new magic keyboard you can take the best notes (if it wasn't the glassy feel)

Need advice, based on my use case: I am an attorney, I write notes of every phone call and meeting throughout the day. I write on iPad Pro 11 with PaperLike using Noteshelf 2. I can sync these handwritten notes with corresponding client files in Dropbox. This system isn't broken and I am not trying to reinvent the wheel. But, do you think I'd see appreciable improvement if I was working on Remarkable 2 instead of iPad Pro 11?

If I had amazing focus and discipline, I’d just get an iPad. I don’t, so I need a dedicated device for productivity, so it’s gonna be the rM2 for me.

I was very close to buying the RM2 but decided against it. I am in desperate need of a note taking device. I have so many notebooks - some for work, some for crafting, some for personal!!! The deciding factor for me was that the RM2 does not allow you to SEARCH within your notes. I need to be able to search my notes to find things I've written down (specs for a craft I previously worked on or a keyword from a meeting I attended). I recently went to a store and used the apple pencil on an IPAD. It wasn't terrible. I'm already using One Note via my computer and I'm liking that. I need, however, a new IPAD. I'm not sure if I need the IPAD AIR or the IPAD PRO. I want the newer apple pencil so those are the only choices for the generation 2 pencil. Any feed back on that? I was going to just buy a regular IPAD (the 32GB cheaper version) until I tried that generation 2 Pencil!!! Thoughts appreciated. Maybe a future video (or one I have not seen yet!). Thanks for the Videos.

RM2. I have an iPad and NEVER use it.
I am really eager to receive my RM2, but also hope they will solve some of their issues mentioned in various videos. It is disappointing not to hear any reaction from them.

With the increase in video meetings, I’ve also enjoyed having a second device since I rely on my primary device for the camera and can’t use it at the same time for notetaking

I just looked at the Remarkable 2 website and they are now giving the week number of expected shipping. They have listed week numbers for up to group 7 (week 46). I'm Group 8, so week 47 is likely for me and that means shipping for my group could begin the middle of November.

I would LOVE to get rid of having 12 different spiral notebooks around my house (I'm sure my husband would too). I strictly use it for notes, no drawing, no graphics, etc. If I were to get the paperlite cover for the ipad (not even necessarily the pro), would it be able to do that? What's the battery like on the ipad? I borrowed a friend's RM2 for a week, and I liked it, but I have no direct comparison with an ipad.

I don't need a device works as a laptop, but I need a way to convert my hand-written notes, especially derivation of formula, to well organized e-documents. I think RM2 is the exact solution. Eagerly waiting for my DHL package. I'm in Batch 6.

Cheers JB! If you could choose only ONE e-ink device... which would you pick?

QuirkLogic doesn’t seem to sell a case or even nibs for the Papyr on their website. Where did you get your case for the Papyr? Is that the Sony Digital Paper case? Where will you get replacement nibs for the Papyr?

The lack of accessories and replacement nibs make me wonder how long QuirkLogic will actually support the Papyr. I am still heartbroken that Sony no longer supports the Digital Paper in the U.S.
