The Ronettes are an incredible group. Another great girl group from the 60's you should check out is Martha and the Vandellas. " Heat Wave" is a great song by them.

Spector had a unique voice for sure, loved her in her duet with Eddie Money in ---“Take Me Home Tonight” — That song reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and hung on the chart for 26 weeks. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award.

That sound was called the Wall Of Sound created by the Late ( crazy as a loon) Phil Spector who Ronnie was once married to. That Wall Of Sound is massively present and prevalent on George Harrisons first solo album which won the Grammy for album of the year for 1971 entitled All Things Must Pass which contained the record and song of the year in My Sweet Lord. Give a listen this Christmas time the Album Phil Spectors Christmas Album from Christmas 1963 which is full of all the girl groups he produced.

In addition to Ronnie Spector's distinctive vocals, it was Phil Spector's incredible "Wall of Sound" production that made the Ronettes so unique. Other girls groups that you need to hit are The Crystals, The Marvellettes, Martha and the Vandellas, The Shirelles, The Chiffons, as well as The Supremes' (before they were "Diana Ross & The....") early stuff like "When The Lovelight Starts Shining" (their first regional hit), "Where Did Our Love Go, " "I Hear A Symphony, " "Back In My Arms Again, " "You Keep Me Hanging On, " etc. etc. Tons of hits by these ladies. So many other girl groups from the early 60s you need to check out. They were rockin' the radio back then.
