Good information. We are spending time in Mexico each winter. This year was significantly more expensive. We dealt with it by renting a place for two entire months and paying for it in two cash lump sums. We also cooked our own meals a lot.

I think you missed another important reason for the strong peso. With global tensions many companies are relocating their production facilities from China to Mexico to get their manufacturing inside a NAFTA zone country.

Thanks, Jordan! That was easy to understand and helpful.

Whatever the reason it sucks for me, I work for a USA company in Mexico and get paid in Dollars, in the last two years I make less and less every month :(

Gotta say though, the number one way to save when the peso rises is to live simpler. Downsize in various ways, choose less ostentatious lodging/housing, eat more street food and home food prep, bus and colectivo travel instead of car rental or flying, more walking and biking rather than paying for taxis, less alcohol consumption(good for you too!) and enjoying more of the simple pleasures rather than more expensive entertainment options. Follow the lead of the Mexicans themselves, live more like a local and less like an overconsuming gringo :) PS. Oh, and the south of the country is still so much more affordable (and fascinating) than say, Querétaro or the usual ex-pat enclaves. I love spending my time in the states of Oaxaca, Chiapas, Campeche and Yucatán. Way easier to learn/improve one's Spanish there too!

Just came back from a vacation in mexico (Guanajuato, San Miguel, Querétaro). I agree....mexico wasn't as "cheap" as i was expecting. It did appear to me that the mexican middle class is doing well. Lots of people out spending money.

This is an excellent video - highly important for people to understand the “why” behind this. Excellent research and presentation. Very few people understand the actual catalysts for this. I myself and very knowledgeable and still just learned a lot from this video which connect with other, stock market & currency related issues.

Another reason that the peso is getting stronger is because with the current president Mexico has a true democracy.

You can also invest in the EWW ETF that invests in Mexican stocks, which is more focused than a broad international ETF. You can also invest in currency futures or FOREX but that's a lot more riskier and difficult.

Another reason peso is climbing, is friend shoring. Mexico is getting more of China's manufacturing, as USA buys closer to home.

Hey Jordan, really enjoyed the video today on the week and in US dollar in the strength of the bezel and the additional information on how to better equipped yourself when the peso goes up. I used to have a site that I reviewed in the morning so that I can monitor when the peso is going up. When I purchased my new device, I lost some information and one of the links that I lost. Was that one. Do you have an app that you know of or a site that I could go to to monitor as the password goes up and down? Again, Jordan thanks for all your Contant good great Contant.

Are you sure spending dollars abroad weakens the dollar? I thought the whole reason the US forced other countries to use the dollar when buying oil was to increase the value of the dollar.

Something about the more scarce the dollar is at home, or the less it circulates in the US, the higher the value.
