No one talks about that but the vision of "bridging the gap between designers and developers" are coming from the open-source Figma alternative project: Penpot. Penpot also announced the responsive way of designing way before Figma and today, it has still more advanced features including grid, wrap etc. Also dev mode is another feature they brought in before Figma did.
