Jordan Singer – Founder & CEO, Diagram
Andrew Pouliot – ML Engineer, Diagram
Vincent van der Meulen – Design Engineer, Diagram

As an industry we’re in a transformative moment: how will AI shape our future and our work? That is exactly what we are tackling on the main stage with some of the most innovative thinkers on AI and product building.

How can AI make designers more effective? What are the challenges and opportunities building with AI for design? We’ll talk about the history of generating UI with AI, how AI can make designers more effective, challenges and opportunities in building with AI for design, and breaking down barriers between design and code roles. We’ll share a deep dive - and demos - into the Diagram product evolution and tackle the evolving role of the designer in this future.

The answer to "what benefit does AI actually have?" always seems to be "think of all the crazy things you can build now!"

.... But why... This is similar to the concept of no one in the future knowing basic math, or problem solving, because "we've made it easier for you..."

No one learns anything by having it done for them... And this will compound year after year

Creating summaries in FigJam? YES
Rename layers in files? YES
Help me find the right files or components faster? YES
Create design concepts for me? NO
Give UX suggestions based on who knows what research? Absolutely NO
Make "monotonous" work for me? Well, who is actually deciding which part of my work I hate and see as monotonous, and what part I actually like?

What these people are intentionally or unintentionally doing is literally democratizing Product & UI design down to the most basic level of knowledge. This is concerning because those in charge can easily be lured into the belief that anything Figma AI provides is inherently good, and thus, there may be no need for an actual designer. Perhaps Figma wants this to happen, thinking that a casual audience will be more lucrative than professional designers. But I don't want this to occur, and I urge our community to address these potential issues. Let's remember and reflect on why we chose this profession in the first place. Not to speak with Chat GPT with prompts I assure you.

Nice to see how this technology will make it faster to create concepts and help us be better designers.

This talk was very good. I really like each part, but especially the one from Noah seemed to me to be a very nice comment on how AI will join our everyday work life. It gives some open and inspiring perspective on how to look at this new player, not only inside designing, but in general how to address and see AI as a new part of our life.

Absolutely blown away! Leveraging artificial intelligence not only streamlines the creative process but also empowers us designers with unparalleled insights and efficiency. Kudos to the Figma team for pushing boundaries and redefining the landscape of digital design at this pace. Can't wait to see what groundbreaking innovations lie ahead!

23:00 does it mean you use user designs (private?) to train your AI?

Will AI allow us to make input text fields in prototypes?

What we do with our hands, its also what we do with our minds.. Gotcha ;)

I'm a product manager. This is great for me because I can generate designs during and after the product strategy, testing, and business planning immediately and collaboratively with business stakeholders and customers without having to use a whole team of designers. Maybe a junior designer would be useful to sweep up but that's it (that means that kind of designer becomes like a tradesperson like a plumber or cleaner...?) Product managers will be the new full stack designers!

That's great and super cool what they are doing... But not a single woman among speakers, that's sad

why all the hosts are dressed like they came straight out of a circus show...this is not very adequate

I hate that AI is going to take away a part of our jobs that was just fine to do. Like there was no need for replacement, but maybe that is just me.
