Just a few weeks ago we first saw this new @MilwaukeeTool M18 FUEL Hatchet 8-inch pruning chainsaw. Finally, we received our own and we didn't waste any time to give it a true test. Still cleaning up after Hurricane Ian, we have plenty of fresh testing material for this battery powered chainsaw. We powered ours with the 6.0 High Output M18 battery. Even after more than 50 cuts in a 4-inch plus log, we still had 3-bars left on the battery. You can get the Milwaukee 3004-20 M18 Hatche for $279 for the bare tool, and it's covered by a 3-year warranty.

Picked up the M18 version after the ice storm we had here in central Texas that destroyed our oak trees here. This unit absolutely made my job easier when I had to cut up branches that measured 2" to about 5". Great tool

Maybe it was just my earbuds or YouTube, but in the video that thing had a painfully loud high pitched whine to it. Was it that loud in real life or was it just the process of recording and uploading that changed the volume?

My ex girlfriend had an automatic oiler 😏😉

Your take on this vs the Makita 10inch top handle? Makita is shorter with a longer blade. This M18 has a gear reduction advantage no doubt.

Very cool. I almost sprung for the 12v version, glad I didn't. Now I'm thinking for a little more, you can get the top handle. It has much higher chain speed, which means a smoother cutting experience. But it's not apples to apples either. Decisions, I guess getting all 3 is the best answer. I just can't justify it to the boss.

Great video Tim! Just a thought... why not make a side by side cutting comparison short of this vs the m12 hatchet... and whenever the top handle saw comes out. Do a comparison of the m18 vs the makita 10 inch top handle that's so popular.. again great video keep them coming!!!

Been thinking about the M12 version for a while, unfortunately it was very expensive in the UK when launched. I would literally use it for what it's built for, pruning. My hope is that now the M18 is available, the price of the M12 is affordable! Regrettably, we in the UK pay far more than you in the US for pretty much everything!

Can you do a comparison between the M12 and the M18

After cleaning my saw I was unable to get the cover back on. With just one bolt I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't set the way it should.

Sadly its way overpriced for what it is.
Milwaukee really got its prices up lately

Good review. I like it, but dang it's expensive. Was hoping for closer to $200.

Chain speed seems way to slow. Every video I see they are showing it used with the bucking spikes. A pruning saw shouldn't really need high torque for big logs lol it's a pruning saw. Kinda think Milwaukee missed the mark on this one.

I am stuck with purchasing a Milwaukee M-18 or a M-12 as well. No video comparison between the two. I am leaning towards the M-18. Can't go wrong with more power. Right? Just the price.

How many bars did the battery have left after making those cuts

When are these being released in Australia? I can’t even find an American distributor willing to ship one.

how does it perform with the 12 amp battery and a 12" bar???

We cut down our dead trees and trees knocked down in wind storms. This baby chainsaw has made the limbing process way easier and much safer. We got the kit at Home Depot. It was $279 for the chainsaw, charger, and 6 Amp battery.

I think this would be good with the 3.0 high output battery

For any Aussies out there thinking of adding this to their camper trailers, I just cut a 120mm diameter piece of seasoned ironbark absolutely no worries. I can’t give a long term review but out of the box it’s a ripper 👌🏼🇦🇺

I just bought one. I can envision a small velcro strap to keep the scrench in place due to vibrations over time. (Or zip tie)
