It's sad we even have to fear losing a job over us saying something isn't part of our job. A person in leadership who can't respect that isn't a leader.

Adrienne has grown so much over the years. The way she addresses situations is more mature.

Garcelle is two for two.

Speaking as a HR Director, Garcelle nailed it and the other ladies are 150% wrong. Directness matters and is key. The correct response in the example is "No problem Jeff, I'll let your assistant know you need coffee"

Where most employees err is thinking because they work for someone, you have to do whatever they tell you, if not you aren't a team player. By asserting yourself and being direct, it 1. Teaches them you see yourself in an elevated way from your colleagues and 2. They realize you are 100% focused on work. All of the wordy explanations about why you can't get the coffee makes you sound weak.

And in regard to the saying, Garcelle is correct. It's living your best life. Period.

This is why the show is called The Real ya'll😂

Don't be afraid to tell them "no." Employers need to be reminded of boundaries.

They just discussed adult bullying and i would say this is a great example... They pick the ones they know they can do it to.

There’s a difference between taking initiative and being taken advantage of. Great video

I worked retail and we just signed paperwork that said that we will not go into inventory. The next day a manager asked me to go into inventory and send some stuff up. I told him, "no". He said, "I'm your superior and I'm not asking I'm telling you". I told him, "We just signed an agreement to stay out of there, no you need to get it yourself, I'll stay on the floor while you go get it". He asked, " So you want a write up"? I countered with, "You want a grievance? Please make your decision because I have to clock out in 6 min". He chose to get someone else to do it. 😊

the trick with job descriptions now is that they're including things like "other various duties as assigned" and other vague crap like that so they can justify asking you to do stuff you never agreed to

So I actually stumbled upon a few articles on this accidentally lol. Your job description can change without notice so it’s really nothing you can do unless it is something outside of your capabilities and training. Adrienne has a good point. If it’s something that interferes with your actual projects that is a problem.

When I used to work in retail as a teen my mom would tell me if they ask you to clean the toilets dona terrible job and they’ll never ask you to do again.

Some employers have contracts to where they can ask you to do things outside of your job description, or they will list a vague duty to communicate the same thing

I feel this test. I just flat tell them “ it’s not my job description. We can revisit what description of my job.”

I said no for the first time at my job of 4 years. I didn’t even say no to the person who asked me VIA TEXT, but to someone else I thought I was cool with. I was called into the office and later that caused me to part ways with the company because the way they got upset over me saying no despite constantly showing up and dealing with petty BS from grown women. I asked multiple times to transfer departments and they told me no. It was insane. They weren’t even paying me adequately. This was 2 months ago and I’m glad to have started something new since then.
