Multiscale Two-Phase Flow by filtering like in LES !
Our spatially filtered hybrid interface-resolving two-fluid model (HiRES-TFM) is capable of capturing both dispersed and segregated flow regimes in one domain at same time. This enables simulations of multiscale two-phase flow with flow-regime transition as shown below. The image shows a wrinkled pipe 14.5 m length, where the two-phase flow enters as segregated flow type and changes to dispersed flow type along the way through the pipe bendings.
