I have seen none stop comments of the Sony a7siii vs Sony ZV-E1. You have to remember that ZV-E1 is intended for Vloggers. If you intend on getting sony A7siii for more Professional Videography im here to give you confidence to get it. The fact that you can't fully rely on the ZV-E1 not overheating in situations such as wedding and events, I will always choose a more reliable camera such as the Sony A7siii. Also dont forget only one card slot for the ZV-E1 therefore if you have an issue with that card during a shoot your footage is now lost. Compared to having the footage dualy being recorded on two slots and having back up with the Sony A7siii. Obviously new tools will start slowly being better then older camera even cameras that are only 6 months old. But dont just look at quality of the video sensor but look at what you intend the camera to be used for. For me Sony A7siii is still better my for my need in Reliability of not over heating, two SD card slot and ability to use 120 and 240fps. Sony a7Siii is a Masterpiece and who knows maybe our prayers will be answered getting Firmware update soon XD.

Btw I'm not trashing on ZV-E1 it is an amazing Vlogging camera that is pushing new levels of cheaper quality camera. But I do have to stop the trend of people putting ZV-E1 above the Masterpiece Sony A7Siii

As a Wedding videographer I find myself using the viewfinder a lot, especially outside. Several years ago when I started using the A7s version 1 I thought I would never use it but today I feel it's a must have. The dials are helpful if you want to film in high frame rates (ex120fps) and you want to keep the audio... Having the two card slots is also a MUST HAVE and this new camera will definitely overheat in long shootings... The ZVE1 could be a nice B camera for the A7S III or the FX3 if your not planning on filming long takes but never a real substitute. The A7S III has two and a half years but it's a reliable camera. I would not do or advise anyone to do a professional work with this ZVE1, it's a vlogging camera, not a pro camera. The only thing to ask is that Sony can give us via firmware update some of the additional features in the A7S and FX3.

I see a lot of people getting sensitive over this camera. Confused why because it’s not sold as a “cinema camera”. It’s sold as a “vlogging camera”.
We shouldn’t be comparing it to any a7 camera or FX camera because there different lines completely.
Now when you compare it to the older ZV cameras it is a massive step up for their “vlogging line”.
So if you’re going to complain about the fan overheating or the fact that it doesn’t have two card slots, it means you’re shopping in the wrong camera line.

Would you trust the ZVE1 to shoot a live concert or a stage play without it shutting down on you? (plugged to USB power) Would you let it roll for 1+ hour on a wedding and not worry about it overheating? The S-III has never once overheated on when doing back to back lectures and day long training classes. I have turned on my S-III at 7am and let it run all day, non-stop until 7pm.

I personally would miss the mode selector a ton. On my a7s3, I use 1, 2 & 3 for 24, 60, and 120 FPS respectively. It's an amazing way to easily and quickly switch between frame rates.

As a professional, not having a second card slot for backup recording is a significant issue. It's my reason for sticking with a7siii, a nice B/C camera perhaps

The A7S3 is so good after the first one that I bought two more a7S3. They are my work horse, routinely recording continuously 4k60 in 10bit for 10 hours straight.

As someone who has been saving up $$ to upgrade from my a6400, this just might be the perfect camera I was looking for. Would love a comparison between this and the FX30.

I'm interested in seeing what else is in store for the future since this tiny camera can pack all of these features. I love my A7Siii ! The ZVE1 is probably just the baby of new things coming out!

There’s a lot that you mentioned, that would be a deal breaker for me on the ZV-E1.
1. The less weight. For someone like me, shooting handheld most of the time, more weight in my hands is great for balancing and stabilizing my shots.
2. Only 1 SD(!!!) Slot. Sony let their users wait for a two-slot option until the A7III (I guess) just to take it away in their new one. Why would you do that, if not for the purpose of giving your flagship cameras some reason to further exist?
3. As you mentioned… the possibility to customize some buttons to make you faster.

Anyway I wish they would pack dynamic active IBIS into an hypothetical A7SIV, just like I would wish for the possibility to load a custom LUT. But as long as they don’t put that LUT thing in there, there’s always external monitors to work around that.

The ZV-E1 might be a great camera for vlogging or social media content. But as it was mentioned before, I don’t think I would take it to a professional shooting.

I really don’t like your thumbnails anymore. They are just there to get attention by creating „false“ information.

Sony is doing a good job in marketing that’s it.
There is no real reason to buy this camera as a pro when you have the s3 or fx3

Yes it will be the death of the A7Siii in the sense that Sony really screwed us by refusing to provide firmware updates. 95% of what the ZVE1 can do that the A7Siii can’t is just software updates on the same chip set from the A7Siii.

If you are buying a camera for client work, the A7Siii wins out in terms of usability, reliability, and redundancy.

You can only use this thing for like 30 minutes at a time, and then you need a 10 minute break and only 1 slot, it’s a no from me, but I’m sure it was made for vloggers

I use my a7siii viewfinder when im on a tripod or monopod to check focus and exposure when its very bright outside and I dont have a highh nit monitor. The detail in the EVF must be industry leading...or adleast it was when it came out. Great video as usual man!

It's a crappy YouTube trend for creators to use "Death of whatever" to get more views. Congratulations, you got my view, and like! LoL, but as an A7SIII user, I'm not worrying about needing to side-grade my equipment to the "lite" version in ZVE1

I don't think it is the death of the s line. I think the a7siv which I think will be out next year will have all this stuff and them more. The better flip screen, luts, and other stuff. But I do agree. I would get this if I did not have the a7siii.

Seems like more of an update to the A7c with 1 slot, micro hdmi, no evf(yes the c has an evf but its trash). They just used the siii sensor because the iv must have a new sensor

New user will be either getting a ZV-E1 for casual use or a Fx3 for professional use. A7Siii still a great camera, but the lack of update just don't give any reasons for new users to buy.
