It’s about time!! I have been waiting for decades for people to realize the oil industry was lying.

We need to switch to renewables ASAP. It's doable and will be so much cheaper once built.

We've got a ways to go but it feels good to hear that we're working towards it.

For the second half of 2024 another 42 GW is under construction and will be online at the end of the year. Even accounting for capacity factor that is around 17 nuclear power plants, that don't require any fuel and just as important in the western US use very little water. It is really hard to manipulate the energy markets when the energy source is for all practical purposes unlimited.

Its biggest hold after the IRA is interest rates, which is coming down beginning this year. If we keep Democrats in our nation will be getting much better very soon.

The thing is that only ~25% of the new green energy capacity coming on line actually retires fossil fuel energy generation and 75% goes to satisfy increased energy demand. We'll never reduce CO2 emissions that way. AI and bitcoin mining electrical demands don't help. We need to invest more in energy efficiency, LED lighting, heat pumps, insulation, induction stoves, appliances, etc.

Is blocking China from selling cheap EVs in the US part of that plan?

Batteries don’t generate ANY energy, they only store and release energy generated from another source

We have to save natural gas for rocket fuel and European countries

By 2050, Arizona electricity prices will rise 47% (in constant 2021 dollars), and average residential bills will reach nearly $2, 600/year. To maintain grid reliability after this massive investment in intermittent renewable sources, Arizona’s utilities will build substantial backup generating capacity (mostly natural gas) that is idle much of the time. Arizona is adding more renewables but not storage to handle peak demand. Instead, they are adding natural gas speaker plants.

Since vast majority of solar panels are Chinese - that’s a problem

people is a lot. That's 1/22 of all US citizens in less than one year. Who will be the clean energy billionaire?

Do you think the materials used to make those giant bird blenders and solar panels come from magic? They have a monstrous carbon footprint.
