I reckon an SE in the chassis of an XR would work real nice. Bigger battery, low-res screen to help the battery life and the single camera setup from the iPhone 8. Seeing as it was pitched as budget from day one, I reckon it makes sense.

If SE3 have full screen like mini and magsafe but 1 camera, that would make a good entry point.

I bought the SE2 in 2020 when it first came out. No regrets. Great little phone.

Worst thing about the SE is the tiny 1800mah battery. Not good for heavy users. Also, 64gb can fill up quickly.

Apart from the battery the SE2 is an amazing mid range phone. And here in Italy the cheapest reconditioned phone is the X which costs more than the upgraded SE2 does new. And you can get the SE2 second hand or from another store for even cheaper than the apple store :)

my iphone 8 which i love is suffering from battery issues after over 2 years. my wife got an se2 recently because she drops her phone a lot and it lost a lot of functionality. i was thinking of picking one up too but i guess i’ll wait for the the new SE. i love the form factor and i don’t care about having the latest and greatest… the 13 mini was tempting.

who remembers the handspring visor (i had one) that was supposed to be my dream device when i was an undergrad EE major and wanted a phone that’s was also a PDA, camera, and music player, etc…original iphone was all that but i resisted until the 4s.

we are so spoiled nowadays with so many complaints and nuisances but that is technology. i hope apple releases a new SE loaded with great battery life and some essentials when it comes to camera, memory, etc…

there is definitely a HUGE market for 45+ year olds like me who don’t care about having the best of the best but want durability and reliability and good quality. I am also an avid outdoorsman with fishing, biking, hiking, backpacking, camping, and i don’t want a HUGE device! i want a convenient device that is small and portable with great features and excellent battery life!

I purchased the SE around 6 months ago now and really enjoy it. I was using an 8 plus before but didn’t enjoy the size. Good points on waiting!

Better camera has been the only thing that has been a compelling reason for me to upgrade, but I agree that 2-3 more years of support is a reason to hold off if you are already in the market.

I am still using original iPhone SE, no plans to upgrade.

The current budget iPad has an A13 so the SE2 will get another 4-5 years of support

We all know that SE2 has a bad battery life, and adding the 5G feature to that might be the downfall of it. 5G eats up alot of battery, hopefully the A15 helps.

Bought SE 2 in June 2020 and the phone still rocking good, and I wouldn't mind upgrading to 5G phone this year, but...if it still use the same design, then I would pass for now, unless Apple choose to move the SE 3 design to XR body with A15 and 5G then that's a deal

lets be honest tho. most people buying the SE, probably don't care that much about 5G speeds.

I’ve got my SE 2020 1, 5 years ago and I still don’t regret it. If I didn’t need a phone back then I would have waited for the next SE. However now I will keep it for at least an other 1, 5 years

Bruh I had no idea the refurbished 11 was that cheap, that’s crazy good

In British rural areas there’s barely any signal. Talking about 5G it’s like talking about aliens taking over (which is more realistic)

I am still using an iPhone 7 and my biggest and only complaint is battery. Maybe storage but 32gb still usable. I really hope the new SE will come in different vibrant colors. If so, I’m buying it. I’d get a 11 but I hate big phones and the 12/13 minis feel a bit expensive for me.

Uh...the SE does have a Retina display, it's just 4.7"...

Every iPhone since the iPhone 4 has had at minimum a Retina display

Original SE: iPhone 6s in a 5 case, released between the 6s & 7. 2nd Gen: iPhone 11 in an 8 case, released between the 11 & 12. Always released as a "current" innards in a "last gen" case. If Apple follows this pattern with an SE3, AND it is released in March 2022, it should be 1) the iPhone 13 innards, in a 2) iPhone X case. And... my wife bought the SE 2nd gen at Christmas based in part on your videos (like, say, your cheapest ecosystem video of Nov 13, 2021). Thanks for now changing your mind!

I always wished they would bring back the drop resistant design 6s/6s plus form factor. That thing was thin & solid.
Also a blessing for older people.
