This summer, the epic studio disaster movie returns with an adrenaline-pumping, seat-gripping, big-screen thrill ride that puts you in direct contact with one of nature’s most wondrous—and destructive—forces.

From the producers of the Jurassic, Bourne and Indiana Jones series comes Twisters, a current day chapter of the 1996 blockbuster, Twister. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the Oscar-nominated writer-director of Minari, Twisters stars Golden Globe nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing, Normal People) and Glen Powell (Anyone But You, Top Gun: Maverick) as opposing forces who come together to try to predict, and possibly tame, the immense power of tornadoes.

Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.

As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives. Twisters also stars Golden Globe nominee Anthony Ramos (In the Heights) as Javi, alongside David Corenswet (upcoming Superman: Legacy), and features an exciting new cast, including Nope’s Brandon Perea, Sasha Lane (American Honey), Daryl McCormack (Peaky Blinders), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Nik Dodani (Atypical) and Golden Globe winner Maura Tierney (Beautiful Boy).

From Amblin Entertainment, Twisters is produced by Oscar nominee Frank Marshall (Jurassic and Indiana Jones franchises) and Patrick Crowley (Jurassic and Bourne franchises). The screenplay is by Mark L. Smith, writer of the Best Picture nominee The Revenant.

Twisters will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures internationally and by Universal Pictures in North America.

Watching Twister impacted me so much as a little girl in upstate NY that as soon as I turned 18 I moved to Oklahoma to chase tornadoes. One EF2 in northern Oklahoma and I changed my mind. But it was the most beautiful place I could've ever dreamed so I stayed. I got married to an Okie, and after 17 years, I forget I ever lived anywhere else. Our 10 yo son tells everyone that the only reason he exists is because of the movie Twister. 😂 Needless to say, my expectations are high for this movie. I have a feeling it's going to be a let down because they're doing it as a "stand alone sequel." When the original was so perfect, that's a mistake.

When I watched this for the 2nd time with no expectations and just enjoyed the film for its own merit I became a fan of this film. I have watched it at least 10 times in a row now.

This movie surprised me, i can’t say that it was better than the one with Helen Hunt, but it was pretty close. Special effects were to die for, very well done. Love this movie. ❤.

I like the original twister movie from the 90’s grew up watching it on vhs! I’ll probably have to watch this one!

Man, RIP Bill Paxton and Philip Hoffman. This makes me wish they were still alive even more. Would have been awesome to see them and Helen Hunt make a cameo. Really sad that it wont happen, and if it does, it's just some fake cgi rendition of them.

I watched this last night with my kids. Didnt have any high expectations so we came out feeling entertained. Not oscar worthy but enough to glue us on our seats.
