One of the most important lessons to teach children is that while growing up can be scary and even painful, everything's going to turn out okay. Change is a natural and constant part of life, and sometimes, you need to let go. But, nobody can take away the memories you've made.
This is why it's so vexing that this ending was retconned...

Going based on his son’s black hair and his daughter’s face and glasses, it’s very clear Timmy wound up marrying Tootie, (unfortunately) making the live action FOP movies legit.

Looking at this scene as a child, I always thought that timmy finally got Trixie Tang. But now I see more tootie than Trixie. Leaving me to believe that as timmy and tootie got older, timmy started to grow a liking towards tootie, making this scene more wholesome.

I love that Timmy's kids have the same physical characteristics as Trixie and Tootie, making for theorizing about which one he married.

I still remember watching this episode as a kid. Didn’t understand it then but now rewatching it as an adult with a career and family I’m crying. This show is awesome.

If the show got better writers, I wouldn't mind seeing a future fairly odd parents that focuses on Tommy and Tammy where they get into their own shenanigans, sibling rivalry and other stuff where it culminates into a movie where the climax has Timmy in a desperate moment to save his kids, remembers Cosmo and Wanda and makes his first wish as an adult. Then at the end, Timmy hugs Cosmo and Wanda and says "It's great to see you guys again after so long" then he is reminded that he has to forget about them again or else they'll continue breaking da rules but Timmy understands but says "I'll never forget you guys" his mind gets erased and he's like "What was I doing? Better get to work!" then as he's driving to work, a single tear drop implying he still subconsciously remembers them and the good times they had.
