With the Los Santos Drug Wars Update in GTA 5 Online, Rockstar have updated the Fidelity graphics mode to include real time ray traced reflections. In this video I compare the differences between the fidelity mode before and after ray tracing was added, and discuss whether or not it is worth the performance hit.

it'd be nice if they added a toned down version of the RT for "performance RT" mode
even if it only got like 40-50 fps it'd still be so much smoother feeling then 30fps

that said, i hope these reflections come to the pc version eventually, they are insane.

I actually liked alot the ray tracing in this game. The only down side obviously being at dated 30 fps

it's so annoying how Raytracing for car mirrors turn off as soon as you start driving it :/

A shame 99% of us won't ever make use of this cuz we'll be playing in performance or performance rt mode and not killing our eyes playing in 25 fps

I love how when you turn RT magically every single window becomes a mirror completely forgetting the fact many stores have anti-reflective windows in real life

They really need to add some sort of basic reflection to the car windows on performance mode. Any car with tint makes the windows look like the void.

This addition made Fidelity a definite contender with Performance RT, for me.

Nonetheless, I eventually switched back for smoother gameplay.

Man I love the reflections with RT on 👍. If it affects the game play though I wouldn't have RT on because the graphics still look amazing with it off👌. Again thanks for the video's dude, appreciated ✌️😁.

Looks like they're using a mix of Raytraced & cubemapped reflections?

Buildings & other static environments seem to be largely unchanged, anything movable is properly picked up and accurately reflected by RT tho.

This is quite an impressive technical achievement. Most new games for XSX and PS5 have a very limited ray tracing implementation, like it only being shown on things the player is using or on certain contained environments. It feels like a miracle that GTA V is capable of doing 30 fps and not lower with reflections coming out of everywhere. Just awesome.

I’ll probably play the single player with RT on. But there’s no way I’m going down to 30fps for the online mode

All this seems like nitpicky graphics differences. I can't imagine why anyone would or does care about it.

Would be nice to get some of this on the PC version. I wonder if Rockstar is trying to figure out how to justify making us pay full price again.

Can't wait to play at 10 fps with RT on

Fidelity Mode is only for console and the expanded and enhanced version of GTA right? It really feels like the PC version of GTA 5 is getting left out/ neglected these days.

The graphics always look so much better in story mode 😮‍💨

Sucks that you don’t get on series s when it is fully capable of doing it

It looks so much better. I wonder if/when this will come to PC. It might not be good for gaming, but for making videos from replays, or screenshots like you said, it can be awesome.

It looks sweet, but I just tried it on PS5 and it's almost unplayable, it feels worse than 30fps

Finally the RT is actually there as they advertised it would. Took long enough.
