Relegation is the best thing about our football. It means the teams are in that league are there on merit, and not on reputation or just be default

For fans of a team near the bottom of the league, avoiding the relegation spots is an exciting but nerve wracking experience. Finishing just 1 point above the the cut off on the last game of the season can feel almost as good as being champions.

Aw man, "bad" timing, because UEFA decided to change the Champions League playing format precisely this season (24/25). It's completely different than what it's said in the video! 😅

The prmotions and relegations happen at the end of each season between the lowest score on the upper dvision relegated and the highers scoring in the division below promoted

There are over 40, 000 clubs in England, with over 7, 000 of those in the Football Pyramid System which has 11 Levels. Only the Top 4 of the Pyramid are considered to be Professional Leagues, with the Premier League at the top followed by the 3 English Football League (EFL) Leagues. These are called The Championship, League One and League Two. Below them is the National League, even though it's not technically considered a professional league, 21 of the 24 teams are pro with only 3 being semi-pro. Being relegated from there is when the League starts to "Pyramid" in shape with the National League North and National League South being equal on Level. It continues to split up into smaller regions as you get lower down the pyramid levels.
Any Levels below the official 11 are county level leagues and aren't managed by the FA but on a local level by County FAs of which there are 50.
The oldest football competition in the world is the FA Cup. A knockout tournament in which all teams from Levels 1-9 are invited to play (sometimes Level 10 teams if Level 9s reject the offer).

In England rather than just promote 3 teams, 2 get promoted and the next 4 go into playoffs, ending with a single match at Wembley to decide the third and final place, which is a massive game.

In England, there are 4 professional 'leagues', better known as divisions. The top division is the Premier League, with 20 clubs. The 2nd division is called the Championship, with 24 clubs. The 3rd division is called, confusingly, League One and also has 24 teams. The 4th and final professional division is League Two, also 24 teams.

The top division is run by the Premier League organisation itself. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th divisions form what's known as the English Football League. Below that are semi-professional leagues also called non-league football. There are 57 leagues featuring a total of 84 divisions across England which provide a feeder system through to the EFL. And that's just England. Scotland and Wales have their own leagues!!!

All leagues don't have these time periods, Sweden for example goes from April to November and we have fewer teams in the top division due to shorter seasons. We do not really have the climate for deep winter football. think Norway does something similar.

The Champions League section was correct when the video was recorded; although now the format have changed from a 32 group stage, where the teams were divided in 8 groups of 4, where the top 2 of each group qualified for kick-offs, the 3rd of each group were brought back to the Europa League kick-offs... To a 36 league phase wich each team will play 4 games as local team and another 4 games as visitor team; then the 1st to 24th will qualify for kick-off and the 25th-36th will be eliminated of UEFA competitions until next season

NIT is the National Invitation Tournament for college basketball. At one time it was the biggest tournament for college basketball but eventually the NCAA March Madness Tournament surpassed it. The NIT is now generally considered to be the other tournament for teams that were not good enough to make the March Madness Tournament.

Relegation and Promotion happens every year, it’s not done on comparative performance between different leagues but the bottom three of League 1 are relegated and top 3 of League 2 are promoted (numbers and specifics vary between leagues but the principle is always the same).

In England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, after the industrial revolution, each large business had its own members only social club/ bar/pub and a football, a rugby, and a cricket team which the employees would use and be a part of. Modern football, rugby, and cricket grew out of this cultural/social tradition, which is why people are so attached and passionate about their clubs

I'd argue that there are some basic rules that are far more important to understand for making football interesting to watch. The offside rule, video assistant rule, financial fair play rule and substitute rules being the ones that come to mind. Worth finding a video on interesting EPL rules.

Players and teams have a very long season on England.. August to May with either 38(Premier) or 46 games matches PLUS The F A Cup matches PLUS The(unmentioned) League Cup games PLUS their team's European matches, if their Club finished in The Top 6 in the previous season. Besides the European Champions League, there are also 2 other European Club events: The Europa Cup and The Conference League. AFTER ALL THAT during the summer, every other year there is either The World Cup or Euros when players represent their country!
Then Pre Season Tours and Friendlies and before you know it, we are off for another season:)

We call the tiers of leagues in England, "The Football Pyramid". It contains 7000 teams ish. The further you go down the pyramid the more complicated it gets because theres more leagues on a given level. Hence pyramid. (The first 5 levels i think a league covers the coutry, next level has north/south league, next level divides the coutry in quarters and 4 leagues etc etc etc down the pyramid.

I enjoyed your reaction, my friend. Some points about this though. In England, the difference is £200, 000, 000 or $240, 000, 000 NOT $40, 000, 000 between being in either the Top Division (The Premiership) or THe Second Ter ( The Championship ). Those first 4 Divisions feature the 92 Teams (Clubs) in The Football League but there are many Semi-Professional and amateur leagues below and, initially, 700 Teams enter The English F A Cup (the Worlds oldest and best domestic Cup ). There is ALSO a League Cup in England just for the 92 teams so the best teams play, at least, twice a week in The Premiership, The FA A Cup, The League Cup or the Champions League :)

"How often relegation happens?"
Every year. Every country has their main league & 2 or 3 divisions below that, so the worst 3 team of every division gets punished with a demotion (relegation) & gets replaced by the 3 teams in it's lower division who got promoted for their good performance in their own division

London calling: South American football recommendation. The ‘Superclásico’ between Buenos Aires rivals Boca Juniors and River Plate is said to be the most intense experience you can have as a spectator. The clips I’ve seen look mad.
