I‘m from germany and i know Struwwelpeter very well. As a Child i loved this book. Today, i Must say, sometimes a little bit creepy. Horror, the Story with the Schneider and the „Daumenlutscher“. This Book is a Memory of our childhood and a Reminder of Wilhelm Bush. The german Fairy Tales of that time, specially Brothers Grimm, was sometimes horrific in the Original Version. Thank you.

He wore his glasses on his nose and wanted to shoot the rabbit dead.

The bunny sits in the leaf house and laughs at the wild hunter.

Now the sun was shining too brightly, and his gun was too heavy for him. He lay down in the green grass; the little hare saw all of this. And when the hunter was snoring and sleeping, the hare ran secretly to him and took the gun and the glasses and crept away quite quietly and silently.

On the subject of german "children's" I had the unedited Grimms brothers as a child ( inherited from my grandfather).
