THIS CHANNEL:
_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...

This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.

Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Der Struwwelpeter! I love that book. Anything they can scare the hell out of children and get them to not play with matches it's OK in my book.

I enjoy Ron using the drone, I pretend I am in the plane approaching and having a soft landing, now unbuckle, climb out walking with Ron 🤗

How interesting. That is a bizarre crypt. Looks like the ship left without him. Thanks for another great story.

I read that book as a child! I am half German. I was in Darmstadt in the 70's and my Mom bought me this book. You helped me remember the name!

Isle of Iona

Has some of the oldest recorded tombstones, including those of 47 Scottish kings and saints, and the Scottish king murdered by Macbeth in 1140.

I‘m from germany and i know Struwwelpeter very well. As a Child i loved this book. Today, i Must say, sometimes a little bit creepy. Horror, the Story with the Schneider and the „Daumenlutscher“. This Book is a Memory of our childhood and a Reminder of Wilhelm Bush. The german Fairy Tales of that time, specially Brothers Grimm, was sometimes horrific in the Original Version. Thank you.

10:17 I translate ☺️

The story of the wild hunter

The wild huntsman put on his new grass-green coat, took his knapsack, powder horn and flint and ran quickly out into the field.

He wore his glasses on his nose and wanted to shoot the rabbit dead.

The bunny sits in the leaf house and laughs at the wild hunter.

Now the sun was shining too brightly, and his gun was too heavy for him. He lay down in the green grass; the little hare saw all of this. And when the hunter was snoring and sleeping, the hare ran secretly to him and took the gun and the glasses and crept away quite quietly and silently.

My brother still has our family copy from when we were kids.
My mother was from New Isenberg. I was there as a child.

The craftsmanship in the detail and designs are amazing. It allowed for alot of creativity for the deceased. Along with their humor.

Beautiful drone footage and intro music, intriguing tomb. My man this episode had it all ! Thank you Ron and Dustin for such a lovely outing. On the subject of german "children's" I had the unedited Grimms brothers as a child ( inherited from my grandfather). Lots of "dashed out his brains"etc. My favourite was ' The Boy Who Couldn't Shudder"😮
