A straightener is so hard for me to master that I rather just use a curler and they’ll last longer for me.

I would argue that you can do the same with curling iron with a clamp. You actuall can straiten your hair with it too (clamp and pull through hair quickly), you can create beachy curls, (there is a soecial technique and you can also use it as a wand), loose curls, tight curls… and it is much much easier to curl than with straitener… straitener is not a beginner too, i felt i had to take it through hair many times to get it rightl 😅
