Max Canada Lynx Playtime

Max is an educational animal ambassador and I always let Max out for a play around my workshop/specimen storage room. Here he's sniffing out that styro-foam piece (frizbee) that I've hidden. Last time he played with it was in the Fall 2012. After this video he ended up tearing off chunks. I don't think he ingested them, but it made me a bit paranoid and therefore is no longer a playtoy for him. He's just a big ole kitty sometimes.

I've never seen an animal so spry before. Elegant and graceful, yet commanding and full of strength. Spectacular.

It's cool to see how any size cat will still act like a cat.

Love how a simple piece of styrofoam massively entertains him :)

Max is full of extraordinary energy! His paws are impressive proportionally to rather medium-sized or even smaller cat. Beautiful creature.

He is a cutie. You are so lucky you can get to know him and learn from him. He seems like a bigger more wild version of my shortly. She is just a little house cat with the heart of a big wild cat.

Yes, he IS a handful but there are days when he is so calm and loving, too.

What I find amazing about cats is that they're basically all the same: they like to play, they like boxes (I've seen a black panther in a box), and I bet all of them purr if you pet them (and they don't take off your arm).
That doesn't mean that anything larger than a domestic(ated) cat would make a good pet; on the contrary. But it's intriguing how a lynx is essentially a very large, short-tailed domestic cat - or that your pet cat is essentially a slightly less wild, smaller lynx.

Yes, he isn't domesticated but being hand-raised does make him less wild than a feline raised by his mother. He would not hurt somebody unless they had him cornered as he's very shy of people. I have been injured by him but not out of aggression. I assume that risk in order to continue using him for wildlife education.

Haha I could watch him all day. Thanks for posting these clips.

What a beautiful cat, with those big paws for running through the snow. Makes me proud to be Canadian. He's funny, with his tail wagging. He would destroy a house in no time. lol

He looks silly and his massive feet paws make him look cartoonish...I love it

THEY NEVER PLAY WITH THEIR TOYS!!! Cat owners spend hundreds of dollars a year on cat toys and no matter how elaborate or expensive the toy they ALWAYS go for the first random thing they find lying around on the floor! It's mind boggling!

Max is NOT a pet. He is an educational ambassador. He's a working feline educating the public about a species that once roamed New York state and many other states only to become endangered, threatened and extirpated here in NY. "A wild animal belongs in the wild", I hear so often. I ask, "What happens when there is no more wild? Captivity or extinction?" I'm trying to educate our children and won't apologize for that.

Max is litter-trained but chooses not to use his 3 foot litter pan except to lay in and on occasion a pee.

I think I should also note that Max Lynx was born in captivity. He was not removed from the wild and he doesn't know anything about hunting rabbits.

My cat once hissed at me and I almost crapped my pants. If this guy so much as looked at me I'd give up the whole home and run away forever. You are so brave.

I'm finding his movements absolutely hilarious, can't explain why :')

Federal and/or state permits are required to own a Canada Lynx depending on the state you live in.
