It doesn't mean that what she says is right. But she IS entitled to speak without being criticized for exercising her right to free speech.

Brad Pitt's mom has a right to her opinion like anybody else. It's not that unusual for a parent to have political or philosophical differences with their children.

Of course, why would that change anything? I try my best not to believe things because I want them to be true. Bad things happen, and we have to deal with them no matter what our religious beliefs are. I grew up a Christian, and one of the most interesting things about de-converting was realizing that it wasn't really doing anything for me all along. I've never missed it. In fact it's a relief to be away from it. I can only speak for myself though.
