I'm in the UK MX5 owners club and to be honest we don't compare models we just drive them they all are great fun.

The haterade runs deep in some of these commenters. The answer is always Miata, this just happens to be the best of the best!

I think the 2016 takes the model to another level. A real top-class roadster

LOVED this video and comparison. Short but sweet and fun to watch. Thanks for doing it!
(P.S. - I'm a proud new owner of a 2016 GT model, and it's my FIFTH Miata. I've had two NB's and two NC's. I have never loved a car more than this one. It is an absolute blast.)

AutoGuide is quickly becoming my favourite North American car channel. Awesome setup you guys had there.

Aesthetically I prefer the older model. Design wise it looked more resolved. The new one with the sharp angles at the front just doesn't look like a harmonious design. The older model also looked squat and chunky where as the new one looks kinda weedy, especially with its skinny pram like wheels.

This is one of the best reviews I have seen in a long while. Other channels should look and learn from this.

I just start to love your channel now. Clear review is what most car fans want, great work, good luck in the future.

I'm all for cutting weight, but losing the door cup holders and glove box is a big deal. What's in my glove box? My legal docs, my sunscreen (it's a convertible!!), my ipod that's connected to my aftermarket radio w/ 7" screen, my phone charger, & a small rag to wipe down any spills.

Does a f'n glove box really weigh that much? Plus, tune the engine of the NC for $250 and you can get 182 hp out of it.

5:00 Hey Dave! Impressed with the drone filming on the drag race -- very slick.

Old one looks so much better - fun with an attitude. New one is desperately trying to look aggressive, pathetic.

Was anyone else too distracted by his 2005 model year pants to hear anything he said outside of the car?

Thoughtful Comparison. Nobody on the Internet compare these two. Good Job

People, the so called car guys need to STOP looking at peak power figures.
Peak power means NOTHING in the real world. That's why the new Miata beats the old one and also the 86/BRZ.

Torque curve people - learn about fucking torque curve before saying anything about power

All well and good, but I think the Mk3 looks better all around. More mature and balanced, for instance the dual exhaust.

Personally, if it's tech I'm after, I'd get the 2015 and upgrade the stereo to a nav unit.

Great car, but I'd personally still go for the Mk3. Maybe take some of the money saved and pop in a turbo with modest boost.

Nd miata 34k+
Used low mile nc under 15k
Headers and lightweight exhaust -50 pounds
Intake
Light weight seats -30 to 40 pounds
Light weight rims -30 pound
Lightweight flywheel and clutch -15 pounds
Coilovers - 10
better tires
Power mods push you to around 175hp
You will be running circles around the ND and you got money left over to do what ever you want, 34k is a joke for a 155hp miata

having driven both, the old ones steering feel is definitely better, at first i couldn't figure out why the nd didn't feel right to me but after driving it more and more its deff the steering feel that throws it off

I test drove the new 2016 Miata with Brembo brakes, etc. Really like it but the steering. While it's still as precise as my 2013 GT Miata, is too light for my taste. The old hydraulic system gives you more road feeling.
