Please STOP saying this car needs more power.
We are in 2015 and there are still people using max bhp to compare cars. Maximum output means very little in the real world - torque curve is what you want to look at.

This 2.0L MX5 may "only" have 160 hp, but its torque curve is so flat that you have access to most of its torque at any give rpm. Unlike the 86/brz that need to be revved to hell to make power, this car goes in any rpm

First review I've seen to mention the inside quirks in detail, to mention the blind spots at all, or to do it in blue. Motor Trend's review is still my favorite, mostly due to Jonny Lieberman being a ridiculous clown and their extreme production budget, but this is a close second. Perfect length, everything you need to know, and honestly critical while still obviously gushing over this new Miata. The fact that you are so clear in your review of other cars and a Miata (turbo!) owner yourself makes this review all the more delectable. Keep up the good work!

You simply do not need the extra power from the larger 2L engine.
Its all about driving dynamics, and the way the car involves the driver.
All you need is the 1500cc engine, the rest of the car just performs brilliantly, you feel that your body is as one with the rest of the car.

I know you have to get in and drive the thing, but your body melts into the car, and becomes part of it.

A magical wondrous experience, that few cars can equal.

I DREAM OF THIS CAR! But really the 2.0 engine is pretty quick in itself. 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds. Imagine if you supercharge it Mat.

This car is THE dream car. I have a 1998 MX5 and it is the best I ever had. Will not change it for any other roadster!

Final comment kind of sums up mx-5 ownership. There's always that desire to make them go as fast as 'proper' sports cars. I used to have one and all the time I had it was spent trying to make it go faster. Yes, they're great fun, but if you want something that goes like a Boxster, buy a Boxster in the first place.

In my opinion the most suitable trackday car is an mx-5, if you are wondering let me explain. When all other cars rely on engine power, the mx-5 only relies on its road holding
