*Explanation at end of video*
I really REALLY love making these, but I can't afford to. ( *This video cost me $130* )
Please consider helping to fund the next one (if you'd like another one!) via Patreon :D

When you’re done with all of these, you should combine all of them into one long video!

So well done, in particular the writing for "Attenborough's" voice. I don't think most people realize that the pacing and cadence of the writing is really the key to making this feel like an Attenborough doc. The impression is flawless, but the structure of the narrative here is what makes it excellent. Keep going!

One small thought/criticism: I wish the camera movement could be more fluid. I can still feel the small corrections you have to make with the mouse or controller in order to get the pans you're going for. This makes some shots feel like a "game, " rather than a sweeping cinematic documentary. This is obviously a limitation of the game itself, but I wonder if there are any mods out there that would allow smoother freecam movement. I think you would feel a dramatic difference in the finished product.

That, and maybe a bump up in the texture resolution (via mods, etc) to make those close-ups richer. When you're playing the game, everything looks fine. But in a "doc" like this, you start to see the seams. The pop-in is also unfortunate, but out of your control. However, if you get enough "footage, " you can make some editing choices to avoid using the rougher shots.

LOVE the slow mo, that really lets you get up close and personal with the creatures. I wonder if slowing the game speed down by 10%-20% across ALL the footage would make some of those herky-jerky creature models feel a bit more fluid/heavy in the water.

MOAR THOUGHTS: The VO is mixed perfectly. His audio is crisp and clear. But when he's not talking, the "ambient" audio of the ocean and the creatures stays in the background. I love these moments in between the narration, but they sound "far away." If you can, bring the natural audio back up again so we can hear creature and environment sounds (which, as we all know, are some of the best parts of Subnautica!).

Sorry for the brain dump. I love what you're doing and looking forward to more! (I make videos professionally, so seeing this gets my wheels turning). Heading over to Patreon now! Best of luck.

I always imagined Attenborough narrating my playthrough of Subnautica, and now you've brought that dream into reality. Hats off to you, sir.

I had to go pull up a different Attenborough video to figure out if it was an impression or if the money went to paying him to do this.

This was lovely. The long lingering shots were spot on. My only critique, and it is not a very big one, is that something cannot be corrosively brine, (a base which is basically salt), and an acid which can also be corrosive. So the lost river is brine, a super salty, corrosive, and heavier than regular seawater "river". But it is not acidic. Silly to point out, I know, but the teacher in me can't stop herself sometimes. Then again, this is an alien planet and so could have chemistry that is distinctly different from Earth. :)
