Foreigners learning a new language usually know more about that language's grammar rules than native speakers 😅

Nevermore..

German BF is so real for this.
Trying to explain german to others makes us all cry

I just love their dynamic. And their love for each other. They each speak to the other in mostly their non native language so that's at least 3 entire languages in their one home... love and linguistics both just blow me away

A man who could cry and be strong enough to be emotionally vulnerable is amazing.

I once literally asked this of my Native German Teacher 😅 and the answer was pretty much the same : either memorize A LOT of norms or _"whatever sounds right coming our of the mouth and entering the ears"_ 😅

Don't worry, the pages of our books can take a lot - even boyfriend tears 😉

When I started teaching my mother tongue (Italian) abroad, that's when I realised what weird rules that we don't even realize we're applying it has 😂

It's like trying to teach someone the correct way to order adjectives in english - there is no 'why', IT JUST FEELS RIGHT

I remember myself wondering, why "nose" is a she in German, whereas in my native language it's a he
This curiosity led me to getting a degree in Germanistics, and now I struggle with the whole idea of a nose having a gender
