Download and Install Drupal CMS without DDEV and just Composer.

$ composer create-project drupal/cms

DDEV is not required. However, you need to set up your own LAMP stack.

Great stuff. We're getting closer and closer to being able to do all the setup for a new Drupal site without even typing anything. We'll even be able to record some stuff via voice and just just play them at the right time when building the site. So cool.

What would be the best path once you are happy with your local site to put it up on the web?

I have just waisted about 6 hours trying to install this. DDEV can not be installed as root which is fine but it should tell you, non root user must be part of docker group which is fine. I have tried with Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04, Debian 12.9 and each time i get different weird errors. Also DDEV has very harsh system requirements. Are you able to make a Step by step guide to install DrupalCMS in a cloud provider?

Great stuff if launched 20 years ago when Blogs were still cool. I don't see any options for adding video. How is this possible in 2025 as a system geared for creators? You have spent more time with it, so perhaps I missed something? Thanks for the great video.

As a user of Wordpress / Bricks / ACSS / Frames / ACF Pro, I've been monitoring the ongoing temper tantrums of Matt Mullenweg with concern. Hence my taking an interest in Drupal as an alternative, as it's been mentioned on a few groups by people of the same mindset.

Got to say I'm massively disappointed, as compared to my current setup Drupal appears to have such a complicated installation process, and looks so basic compared to my current stack.

I'm focussing on dynamically built sites which allow the end user to add/change content themselves without breaking the site structure/styling, is this at all possible at this stage of development?

And how well does Drupal handle responsiveness 'out of the box'? ACSS takes care of most of that, it just needs a few tweaks.

Alas, those of us that use a hosting service can't install docker or ddev. And I can't install ddev on OpenSUSER Leap 15.6

Nice video for every tecky person. Awful for end user. Unfortunately Drupal is flying away from marketers and end users and it seems never will go back, so close, as were Drupal 7. I have so expectations, and I am disappointed, too. Just see how easy to use WordPress and how difficult is just to install the new drupal cms for humans. But just for humans, using composer. Are you serious?!

For a CMS that was supposed to make installing and using Drupal easier it has accomplished nothing. Step 1, Download Drupal CMS. Step 2: install 300 components using CMD, PowerShell, Ubuntu, Linux, Step 3: nothing works. DDEV fails entirely.
