Drupal CMS First Look from a WordPress User

Drupal just released the first version of their "Drupal CMS" platform, aimed at making Drupal more approachable to non-enterprise users. Even though I switched to WordPress for most of my client work years ago, I started using it again on an Enterprise project in 2024. With this new release, and all the shenanigans happening in the WordPress world, it may be time to give Drupal another look.

I last used Drupal in 2016 at Uni for projects, Drupal 8 had just come out at the time. As my first entry into web development it was a challenge learniing the Drupal terminology. It now looks a lot simpler now coming back to it. The interface has improved a lot.

Hi Adam, thank you for the tutorial/review. I used to run a gardening blog in WP until one day a hacker exploited a dated plugin and defiled the blog beyond repair. I'm considering using Joomla or Drupal to re-start my blog again. I don't like all the plugins in WP. Everyone on the web says Drupal is developers, too hard, etc... Do you have any opinion good or bad regarding Joomla vs Drupal for a small personal blog. Joomla seems very straight forward and logical. Is Drupal much more difficult than Joomla? Should I just absorb the Drupal learning curve? Thanks.

This is so much like Headless CMS(es), especially Strapi and Cockpit. But it seems Dupral is a bit late.

drupal was created back in 2001 or so. i used it till 2005 when i found wp - theres no going back to that cms - its still a hard and awefull cms in coding and designing.... sry big no no :P
