We should never forget who called the first shot, it was the EU under duress from the US, that unilaterally declared tariffs of Chinese EV even though China is selling at 30-40% premium of what they sell in China. Moreover EV as a percentage of car sales in EU is still very low, and it would remain low depending on how fast the adoption is by the consumers. So all these fear of Chinese EV is future based fear which we don’t know would happen.

EU started it, and now they try to give impression that the other side started it.

EU is digging its own grave. Auto sales in China have already been slow for a couple years, and the trend is continuing, especially for foreign cars, imposing 25% more tax is like putting the last nail in the coffin. I don't understand how tariffs can fix the problem of competition, if you cannot compete, you should find ways to improve yourself, and find solutions instead of creating problems. Tariffs are not a solution, it is a problem.

EU, US must aware that china can literally get the products from other countries they get from EU, US... While that's not the case for US, EU.... No country can currently match up with china manufacturing capacity...

Free trade is only applicable for EU if they are on top or monopolizing it.

A trade war is not good for anyone. In a trade war it’s the consumer who is the biggest casualty free trade is always better than protectionism. If a nation cannot compete, work harder.

EU wanted a war but lacked ammunition. Are they going to start crying when China start their retaliation? Rules based order is the US UK EU imposing it on others. Never on themselves.

EU should have predicted this, even expected this, so please don't act like EU is surprise

About time China push back these bullies. I'd suggest the raise battery prices to the ceiling which they control, and put some EV automakers in EU out of business. At the end of the day..the EU is putting its customers at a disadvantage !!! We all know...EU is more than just a US lapdog

Is there something in the Anglo-Saxon DNA that loves pain,  particularly the self-inflicted kind?

Trade war is an attrition war. While no one gains anything, the side which cannot afford the cost and pain succumbs.

EU: "We will impose tariffs on your products, but please don't impose tariffs on our products."

Instead of asking for leniency, China's 🇨🇳 determination to fight back against the EU tariffs *will only hurt China more.*
