Yep. Our offense uses steps and I just set it up so that the steps both get them to the appropriate depth (we use bangs or hurdles for those early drive steps with help them get to top speed) and there's so few times that they have to think of anything but their steps. This is factual info. A lot of times coaches burden athletes with a lot of info because we haven't given enough thought to how to make it more intuitive and work for every player.

Great content as always coach! Can't agree more. Kids get slow at the beginning cause of the counting but they quickly run the routes way more efficient. One thing I struggled with was when the kids get bumped out of the rhythm with a squatting cb for example. How do you handle this?

How do you estimate how many yards per step? Ex: 14 yard comeback=break on 4th step

How do you recommend i count steps if/when i try to stem to gain (Leverage) on the DB? For instance, im running a 16 yard, 4th inside step Dig, vs a corner playing off man, inside tech. If i stem inside (two steps) RITE OFF OF THE LINE, .. Is that considered a part of my 1st of the 4 inside steps, or do i start counting once i start upfield? Thank you.

Can you tell me the step correlation to the routes again. For example the hitch you said on the second inside step break. For other routes what are the steps

So i saw one of your vids and i started dropping the outside foot first on the comebacks, but now on this vid I’ve seen many people dropping the inside foot. Should i change?
