I met a woman once who went in the ER in excruciating pain.. She was sent home accused of drug seeking. When she returned later, still in pain, she lost her leg to a blood clot.

My mom had a blood clot in her leg twice, hip to thigh. The second time she told me to wait until morning to take her to the ER. Eff that! ER is there for JUST these types of reasons

I appreciate that you cared and despite hoping she was exaggerating, didn't play it down and sent her to the ER. I see doctors and surgeons downplay symptoms all the time because they don't want to believe their patients or be held responsible if it was their fault which causes patients not to go to the ER

Seeing these stories really reminds me that there ARE providers who care very deeply for their patients. I don’t often get to even see the patients myself when working but knowing that I have a hand in their journey back to health makes me so happy and I will always look up to and admire caring and kind doctors like dr. Youn

My dad once had his whole arm turn purple after getting an infection. Stepmom forced him to the ER, he would’ve died if he had gone to bed that night.

Blood clots are so scary. You hear about them in passing, but experiencing one is way more terrifying than I expected. I got a huge blood clot in my leg after my knee surgery earlier this year. So much pain and ended up causing a saddle pulmonary embolism that put me in the ICU. I went into the ER on kind of a whim.

My symptoms weren’t nearly as severe as this woman’s. But I did have pain and pressure in certain positions and just felt like I should get it checked out to be safe. Despite not having the majority of the traditional signs of a clot, the clot in my leg was absolutely massive. The pulmonary embolism happened while the ER was confirming the clot in my leg and it broke free. It could’ve killed me if I didn’t go in. Scariest thing I’ve ever been through medically.

The reality of plastic surgery is, you can have the best doctor in the entire world, but things happen. In this case it was due to a completely unknown problem with her veins
