Deep Dive 06/08/2024 – Hurricane Debby could influence the UK – Met Office weather forecast UK

Thanks for the action-packed Deep Dive this week, Alex. Delighted to have some discussion of how tropical storms can affect our weather. Msny years ago, we spent a drenchingly warm and wet canal holiday during the remains of Hurricane Charlie. We spent the whole week in oilskins. It felt as if the boat was upside down! But it sounds as if Hurricane Debby may curve the jet stream the other way so that the British Isles experiences a short-lived ridge and hot, dry, descending air instead.

Love the deep dive, but not a fan of the side camera which was zoomed in. I think it works fine when the computer image is taken full screen for more detail, and the new side view made me feel a bit motion sick!

3:20 Please ditch the "spiky" graphics for rainfall as cannot tell where the heaviest of the rain is scheduled. Just show colours like the temperature variance. They don't work.. you don't have time anyway to interpolate from where you can see the base (southerly edge).
