Cinematography Style: Marcell Rév

I’d place Marcell Rév in the camp of the new school of cinematographers who like to elevate on screen emotion visually by using higher contrast lighting with mixed colour temperatures, a darker negative and a combination of large format digital and film cameras.

In this episode I’ll look at Marcel Rév’s philosophy on photography and show some of the gear which he uses to execute his vision.

I truly think he’s a genius. Euphoria is just a basic mid show without the cinematography style. Marcell truly elevated the show to a whole other level

Euphoria is one of the best looking tv series that I've ever seen. Probably would have never watched it if it wasn't for this In Depth Cine.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with him a few times, he’s so talented and an incredibly kind human being.

I would recommend everyone to watch Balaton Method, a music documentary he shot in 2015. Every song is recorded on the spot around Lake Balaton in Hungary in various locations(including but not limited to: hot air balloons, medieval ruins, multiple beaches and so on) and the cinematography blew my mind as a teenager when it came out.

Can you make a video on the trends in cinematography by the decade? Something that shows the direction cinematography is going in?

Awesome video as always!! I'm eager to see an episode about Jeff Cronenweth's style, he's the cinematographer for four of David Fincher's movies.
