I love the humility Ray Dalio demonstrates. He really comes across as a sincere guy that wears his heart on his shoulder.

You was absolutely right in your expectation of Great Depression in USA around 1990. It was avoided only because first Warsaw Pact countries joined the western economic system, then parts of former USSR. Productive economy in those countries was destroyed, and they became markets for western goods and source of free high-quality engineers/scientists and sources of cheap or even free resources. Most payments for the Russian oil simply travelled between 2 accounts in western banks😹. Estimated profits for the West were at least 5 trillion in 1991 dollars, and estimated losses for former eastern block countries were at least 10 trillion (as plundering destroys net value).

No need to be so hard on yourself Mr. Dalio. This is so common in our 20's, the disparity between confidence and experience. Without that eye-opener, where would you be today?

Mr. Ray, I live in Bolivia, I've been following your talks thanks to YouTube and Ted. You have a great impact on my life and I am grateful that you chose to take the time to reach people from so far away as myself and others who live in countries so different from the US but still speak to us in a profound way, which proves that the "principles" are universal.

I just finished this and this is exactly where I am at. Just like you...you bet it all that a bear market was going to happen. I am a day trader. My bet was back in Jan 2018 beginning of Feb bedore that 1600 point drop we were going up! Next day all I saw was RED! Because of this choppy and see saw market since then I tried to get back but every time it seemed to go my way Trump would tweet the morning before and I would lose again. Even with my experience with charting, patterns, and markets...the Wild card TRUMP always messed up my trades almost daily. Anyways I know the feeling of the Abyss and Loss and Failure and being broke! I am also thinking about quitting and putting on a suit and tie for someone else. That's where I am at. Ill finish your series. I know your a super successful investor now so I have hope!😀 I'm accepting my failures and moving for sharing!

We progress forward until we encounter setbacks. Whether we get out of them and continue forward or spiral downward depends on whether or not we are willing to face the failure objectively and to make the right decisions to turn the loop upward again.

You will lose something or someone that you think you can’t live without or will suffer a terrible illness or injury, or your career will fall apart before your eyes. You might think your life is ruined and there is no way to go forward, but it will pass. I assure you there is always a best path forward and you probably just don’t see it yet, you just have to reflect well to find it, you have to embrace your reality.

I have finished watching this video completely.
(我看完這部影片了)

I am a Taiwanese who cares about the global affairs.
(我是一個關心全球事務的台灣人)

And, sadly, most of my fellow Taiwanese don't really care about the world.
(但是,很不幸地,我大部分的台灣同胞不那麼在意世界。)

Hopefully Taiwan can become increasingly globally-aware and globally-competitive.
(希望台灣可以越來越有全球意識與全球競爭力。)

God bless Taiwan.
(天佑台灣。)
