I have no sympathy for the Averagers game. Not a lot of people have talked about this, but the DAY before they announced its closing down and all skins will be free, they put out a $70 skin pack.

"we had to start working from home during the pandemic, that is why it was a cashgrab" oh you poor man
Honestly i feel bad for the devs and artist that had to work on that game knowing what it was going to be, but i think is actually good for the industry that it failed, because it taught the executives that only want to get that game-as-a-service money that if something as big a marvel can fail on that, they should think twice before deciding between a predatory model cashgrab and making a good game

10 million is definitely a small budget for a full 50 man team for two years. Even at a 50k salary average, that's half the budget to salary without anything being produced yet. You need to consider equipment, studio/facility costs, taxes/benefits, and a whole myriad of other things. It's actually surprisingly similar to the size and budget of the company I help manage over a 2 year span.

The Avengers game felt like it had a lot of hype to it as well, but once the game came out, the nonstop bugs and the overly intense grind seemed to have killed off a lot of hope for it, even without the obvious cash grabs . The game just didn't give you that feeling of being "super"

Howdy, dev-who-occasionaly-comments here. I can attest to how much of a pain in the ass working with Disney properties is. _Any_ decision involves asking Disney (usually Disney Legal) if we may consider what we want to do and we have to hope they approve and respond in time.

Well, at least Guardians and Midnight Suns were great games. Honestly I just don't like that Avengers soured the way people see Marvel games.

It's crazy how 1 million hasn't happened yet with the good consistent content.

I would love to know more behind the scenes stuff about indie games. Budgets, team size, how long it takes to make. It's so hard to find information about that stuff.

The sad thing about Avengers is that they shut down a fantastic game for this. RIP Marvel Heroes.

So how long until Gotham Knights and now, seemingly, Suicide Squad apologises?

That's the painful thing about Marvel: Avengers - there was the makings of a _fantastic_ game bubbling just below the surface, but it was weighed down and diluted by all the weird pay-to-win aspects and timed events. It felt like a damn mobile game.

I never really liked any of their movies but I am intrested to see what comes from Blumhouses entry into the video game market.

When Jesse says Avengers was "obviously designed to make money" or I see others in comments comparing it to a "mobile game" or "cash grab" I ask did we play the same game? It only sold cosmetics. It gave away so much free currency I was able to accrue a small collection and never ended up paying anything extra. It had plenty of problems, but that wasn't one of them.

The avengers wanted to be a good game, but the monetization killed it. It had bugs galore and repetitive gameplay, but what killed it imo was the over monetization of the game. It also kinda had loot boxes too. Like it had patterns which were randomized and a lot of the loot was randomized. It didn't necessarily look like loot boxes, but if it quacks like a duck and looks like a duck. I just hate that what could have been one of the coolest games ever was killed by corporate greed.

Imagine the games we would have if squeenix wasn't so EXTREMELY greedy, geez
