I relate to Tyler a lot. I'm not as versed in the philosophical arguments as him but agree those are the least weak, yet they inly get to a deistic god or the god of classical theism. And 100% with him on reasons for not finding Christianity tenable any longer (despite decades in apologetics, Bible study, theology, discipleship, lay ministry) after exploring more deeply the academic study of the Bible from the ANE context of Israelite religion and the OT up through the NT and historical and textual criticism of it and early Christianity. Thanks for having him on and being willing to listen even if you disagree

Discussion preceding and around the 20 minute mark, the issue comes down to Tyler’s rejection not just of non-classical views of theism, but of even the classical theist’s view of the communicable attributes of God!

Tyler is big on the incommunicable attributes, but even in this very discussion pulls the rug out from the communicable attributes. So even Tyler rejects the historic, classical theist view of God without explicitly stating such.

It sounds to me like Tyler still puts stock into some of the presuppositional apologetics arguments regarding things like the laws of logic and mathematics. If that's the case, I would propose to him that every worldview, theistic or not, is founded upon some sort of necessary axioms, and adding a conscious mind into that mix doesn't help.

I have heard and watched Tyler Vela's videos on his abandoning the faith but he has said noting to even move the needle in the faith. He has given me no good reason to abandon Christ. I will pray for him to return to the faith.

Tyler was converted to Calvinism and NEVER Received Christ Jesus. People can taste of the Spirit of God and still fall short of being Born Again...This is Tyler...And this is why Calvinism is so Dangerous...Calvinism is NOT the Gospel...

for someone who claims to have been a Christian, he has surprisingly little grasp of basic Biblical theology, like original sin and God's plan for the redemption of man and creation through his Son Jesus Christ - this theme runs throughout the Old AND New Testament. How could he have missed it?

14:07, if Tyler is saying that there's some good God out there, well, I think it's safe to say that this God doesn't give a damn for his creation. If he did, this Universe is not the best of possible worlds. Any argument he makes that Christianity has a bigger problem is incoherent since any creator God requires an explanation of why he created this suffering Universe in the first place. Tyler is just prolonging the inevitable road to atheism or agnosticism.

Man I remember listening to a debate between an atheist and Vela a long time ago and thinking... If that Vela guy starts actually using that brain of his he is going to leave his religion right away. Cut to today and I am still chuckling about how correct that was.

You mentioned the Jesus sermon that said about the Heavenly Father giving good gifts to his children, and there you were hearing crickets from God. Did you an any point thought that you were a reprobare d deceived by evanescent Grace?

Everything he said was a total contradiction. Why is his "deist" God so hidden? Why does his deist God allow evil?
