Hi, nice vid! The metal plate on top of the servo saver is standard. You can find it in the old manual of the MB. The body can be restored with polystyrene sheeting (thin 0, 3 mm), glue and some filler. They are all this thin. Use it under and on top of the bonnet (make a new bonnet essentially). Body posts in the rear the same with a bit thicker material (0, 5-1, 0 mm). Shocks do not need to be replaced. Just take a dremel tool with small metal brush and the rust wil come off. Cheers.

Hey fella, just stumbled upon this video!
Interesting mate, I've restored many vintage Tamiya over the years.... including a Monster beetle and a mud blaster!
Great sense of achievement seeing something like this slowly be brought back to its full glory!
My problem is I get far to 'anal' and end up spending 3 times what the cars worth in persuit of making them then they end up too good to run so end up on the shelf(buy re re's to drive instead)
If your interested you can see my fully restored mud blaster, porsche 959 and toyota celica grb on our you tube channel @Green Hawks RC!!
The black metal part that connects to the front shock tower and hovers over the servo saver was standard on all the original monster beetles/blackfoot and mud blasters.... Although I can't for the life of me work out its function(have heard its to protect the servo?) This was done away with on the re re models.
Also, the silver plate was also standard on the original models to mount the mechanical speed control onto.... Re re models just had a couple of bars instead to brace the chassis as the plate was no longer needed due to modern ESC's.
Only other diffences are the colour of the screws and the rear drive shafts being hexagonal on the original models, these were updated in the re releases.
Those were great models back in the day once you sorted the dodgy differential out. I still run a few of these chassis daily in the form of a monster beetle and blackfoot.... with an MIP ball diff, upgraded shocks, superstock motor and modern electrics they are a very good performing /reliable and fun vehicle to bash! Plenty of footage of them in action on our channel fella!
