I still miss Blockbuster nights with my friends & family...
It was like a reward for getting thru a hectic week!

Rent and watch videotape(s) was literally part of my childhood/adolescence.

I miss just playing outside with friends. I never see anyone outside anymore other than joggers or workers. It used to be that you'd see every kid on the block out playing, or homeowners doing something in their yards. The world used to be so lively. But now we've become too comfortable inside. Which is nice, but it feels like something important has been lost.

Nothing says childhood more than renting videos! It was your reward after a long school week, especially during winters. I could just stand for hours going through them and noticing what to watch later! How sweet!

A high school mixtape led to two of my friends getting married and parenting two beautiful children decades later. ❤️ 💿

I'm completely bias and completely right...the late 80's-90's were the best time to be a kid. Music, movies, video games, cartoons, literally everything.

P.S.
Prank calling is a lost art, it was a rush.

I remember doing every one of these things and miss it, growing up in the 90’s was great

Maps are still used, esp if you do orienteering and geocaching. And if you're out hiking, backpacking or camping, having a printed map could be a life saver.

A little off topic but it breaks my heart to know that kids today have no idea what I'm talking about when I try to do the "pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon?" joke.

There was something extra special about Saturday morning cartoons especially with all the crazy 80s cereal

Here's some big ones Mojo missed.
1) Riding in the back of a station wagon. A real monkey's paw when it comes to road trips. At first, it seems great extra space, lots of windows and a view out the back. But on a hot July afternoon, you realize air conditioning doesn't reach back there. And every turn at speed slides you and the luggage across the space.
2) Toys R Us. Blockbuster happened more frequently, but nothing capped the kid experience in the 80's and 90's like going to the big box of toy stores, Toys R Us. not a section in another store, but the entire store itself. Most times it was to get a present for someone else, siblings, cousins or a clasmate who invited you to their party, but it was fun to see what was on display even if the trip wasn't for you.
3) Overstretched cords. Weird that Mojo had 5 entries for phones and missed the cord. In earlier generations, having a phone and having privacy were two different things. An determined teenager could stretch a phone cord from the kitchen to the nearest bathroom creating a perfect clothesline to run into without proper warning. And by the time a teen went off to college, that phone cord was overstretched and sagging in a off-white pool on the kitchen floor.

Never send a Millenial to do a Gen X'ers job.

I miss those days back then. Back then when Saturday morning cartoons meant something. I also remember going to Blockbuster with my parents. Instead of movies, I wanted to rent video games. While some stuff I do miss the most. However, I'm glad technology has improved over the years. Some are great but some I've mentioned I do miss years later. Good times but those days are over. While some I don't miss for the most parts.

For the segment with the phone book, they should have shown the scenes from The Terminator and The Jerk when the killers find their victims by looking in the White Pages.

Some of us do missed these Saturday morning cartoons, but thank goodness for Disney+, HBO Max, etc.

The video rental shops in my small town were a big part of my childhood. I loved getting a movie and a pizza and spending my weekend watching a new movie. Good times.

Before iPods and smartphones, there were mixtapes and mix CDs from the ‘80s and ‘90s.

I'm 44 years old and while I embrace the luxuries of technology that we have today, I still miss these things from my childhood. By the way, you can still get printed maps for free if you're a member of AAA.
