The Yamaha PW50 has long been a staple in the youth dirt bike world and is known for its ease of operation, simple maintenance, and adjustability. One major point of adjustment is the throttle speed limiter. With this adjustment you can tailor the max speed to your child's skill level.
In this video Charles shows how to adjust and remove the speed limiter, as well as remove the exhaust restrictor plate on a Yamaha PW50. The process shown will be the same for all model year PW50s.

Can I adjust idle to help with restrictor screw issue? I just can’t get it to run out one speed it’s either full noise or not enough throttle to move it.

Do you put anything in where the throttle screw was?

I use the throttle screw adjuster on our ‘23 we just got for my 2 and a half year old son. And it feels as if it it only allows either absolutely barely any throttle or it’s just wide open. No matter how much we adjust the screw on it. It’s either all or nothing. If I was to remove the chairs restrictor will the screw be more responsive or will I be running into the same issue with the screw

Is it ok to remove power restricter while still using throtle restrictor?

Personally every Yamaha dealer will tell you that power restrictor is useless(choking engine too much) and that screw is enough....We bought it brand new already without that restrictor on and our 3 years old was just fine...because you need some power to control bike safely...😎🤙
