Unfortunately for my feet, I often had to dance in dead point shoes because they cost too much to replace. My dad use to shellac them for me to get extended wear out of them. Very dangerous!

I wonder if putting them in an airtight plastic bag with one of those little Damp Rid humidity absorbers that are used in houses to absorb moisture would help them to last longer 🤔

Me as an artist - awwww that last position would make a cute puppy dog - use the ribbons as ears, add some eyes & a ribbon tongue too 😂

What a resource 😢😮 their invaluable handle carefully don't let just anyone handle them.

I find it so fascinating how different dancers use their shoes. For me, that’s a perfectly broken in pointe shoe but for others it’s completely dead.

Hey Lori, are they in any way, even if partially, recyclable? You guys have to go through so many of them, its a shame if they are all ending up in the landfill.

Oh my.... that looks like it feels quite mushy lol! I'm glad they made it through your performance!! 🩰💜🩰

hey lori! i know you said you can feel the hard floor on your toes wearing dead shoes, so this prompted me to want to ask you what you feel on normal shoes at their perfect moment, when they're broken in (some dancers call it "the sweet time" or sth like that), what is it that you feel exactly on the tip of your toes? it's such a mystery to me as a beginner!

Very interesting, and dangerous! it sounds like. How is the humidity problem dealt with in places that have high humidity levels all the time?

are you going to keep those as a war treasure since they danced with you throughout a whole performance? ❤️‍🩹🥹

Back in the day we’d throw some wool in there and use them another month lol

What do you do with all the dead point shoes! 😅

Question for ballerinas: Does the box (when it’s firm and not dead) keep your toes from touching the bottom of the shoe? Like does it allow your toes to hover in the shoe? Or are your toes touching the bottom of the ballet shoe?

Did you have to perform in dead pointe shoes the entire time in NY? 😮

Would it have helped to keep them in a zip lock to keep the humidity out?

what do u do with your dead pointe shoes? throw them in the trash? I'm doing this question hoping to not offend you :))

What do you do with all of your dead shoes? Are they thrown away?

It means that the shoe no longer supports you and that it is very dangerous to dance on.😬

Would a brand new pair faired better?

I’m just realizing that if you lived in a different climate your shoe preparation might be completely different, you might even wear different shoes!
