It's crazy how expensive your shoes are compared to how long they last.

Guys your pointe shoes can last longer but because she is dancing like nearly every single day for many hours her shoes won’t last very long like my first pair I was dancing about 3 hours a week in them maybe a little less and they lasted me from like June to December.

For those who don’t know, the amount of times a dancer can wear their pointe shoes varies from dancer to dancer. For instance, I am still a student who doesn’t dance nearly as much as she does, so my shoes can last several months.

Hi ballet dancer here and let me just clarify some things for the people in the comments. She is a professional ballet dancer that dances en pointe a lot which means her shoes will die quickly. Once a shoe is dead you can't "bring it back to life" because the materials has already broken down. Yes there are pointe shoes that last longer because of how it's made, Gaynor Minden's are made out of a plastic polymer instead of fabric and glue like the traditional pointe shoes which makes them last very long. As dancers we don't "recycle" our dead pointe shoes or pass tgem down (that would be dangerous), instead most dancers keep their old pointe shoes as a collection. Some turn their dead shoes into artwork but there are some dancers that don't keep their dead shoes and just throw them in the trash. To answer the question everyone is talking about, the lifespan of a pointe shoe depends on the dancer and the brand of pointe shoes. Freed of London within a day for some dancers where some dancers who wear Grishko/Nikolay can make them last a couple weeks. Also young dancers just starting pointe usually makes a shoe last a couple months because they may only do pointe class twice a week.

I've wanted to be a ballerina my whole life...seeing someone on pointe is one of the most beautiful things to me. Grace, poise, artistry, shear perfection. ❤❤❤
I had no idea the shoe wears out so fast. But...I wouldn't have cared how many pairs I would have had to buy if given the opportunity and support from certain family members. My love for ballet began when i was 8 and im 54 now and my desire to dance still exists. When i was 18 I was 5'9" and weighed between 110-120 pounds yet I was told I was too fat to try and if I did I would crush a male partner. ( those types of comments started around age 13...which led to body dymorphia and anorexia but no matter how small I got the opinion of me stayed the same). I never got my dream so I watch others. But I definitely would have worked jobs so I could have bought as many pairs of Pointe shoes needed.
Keep dancing...don't ever take a no from anyone when it comes to something ur passionate about. ❤❤❤❤

I'm so fascinated how the back of your shoe looks like it's falling off your heel!!!!😮🩰Have you always worn your pointe shoes like that? I understand every dancer has a preference for how their pointe shoes would drive me nutty. 😂

That’s crazy!! A week is a long time!!! Glad you don’t have to pay for your shoes…. at least, most of them. ;)

As a long distance runner, I’m never complaining again about how ‘quickly’ we go through running shoes because this is wild 🥲

I’ve always wondered this. It makes more sense than what I was thinking 😂

Do you have any tips to make pointe shoes last longer? I'm getting my first pair in August and I want to practice a lot so I'm good at it, but I doubt my parents will want to buy me new pointe shoes every week 😭

I always loved my “dead” shoes better…I loved being able to feel the floor…my feet were super strong and I had a low center of gravity…the support was a nice feel at first, but it was freeing when the shoes were more soft…just me🤷🏼‍♀️

when you think of ballet shoes as a sport equipment, it makes sense why they won't last long

I remember for my intermediate foundation exam, my pointe shoes were close to dead a month before the exam and my teacher did notice it. However she told me to not buy another or she’s worried I can’t break it in fast enough before the exam (It was Grishko Pro so it was a hard shank). A month after the exam, my pointe shoes were ded af boi. It felt like a frickin soft ballet shoe bro 😭

I had to quit dancing en pointe--I have Morton's Toe. Dancing en pointe was incredibly painful; no amount of padding made the shoes comfortable.
