Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb Guitar Lesson Pt.3 - Outro Solo (First Half)

In this note-for-note video series we are going to tackle Pink Floyd's classic "Comfortably Numb".
This haunting tune has two of David Gilmour's most well known solo's in it. You can study these solo's as the blueprint for creating a gorgeous and melodic solo using pentatonic based playing.

Most of the rhythm guitar work in this tutorial is just showing you the chord progressions that the orchestra is playing since there is very little guitar played during the non-solo sections of the tune except for some scant acoustic guitar here and there and the power chord rhythm under the outro solo.

This video guitar lesson series consists of 5 videos total, the performance video and 4 note-for-note video lessons covering all the rhythm guitar parts, main solo and outro solo respectively. Good luck!! 😀

I think you should redo this lessons, I mean, all the outro solo, because now you make a better lessons, and I find this one a little bit passed. It doesn't mean I don't like it, in my opinion you're the best youtube guitar teacher! But this lesson is rough to follow, and I really like when you play at the beggining what you're gonna teach in the video

This solo is actually quite hard to remember the small differences in each part, took me three days with about 1-2 hours daily. But now I know the top 3 guitar solos of all time, just got to practice this one to get it clean with a high percentage of success or no mistakes. But i felt super dumb not recalling those small changes in all those parts, who else had that problem? Idk if I got dumber in the last few days or not, it was weird though .

Im getting it bro. I had bought a Kramer SM1 and it sounds good on it with a Boss amp Katana. You are one of a few best instructors on you tube hands down. This is just fun to learn. Thanks Carl. You are very talented and a very good instructor...

Thanks to you, I finaly nailed "Time", now getting onto "Comfortably Numb", fantastic lessons. Precise, the closest to original i've found here, all the little details and tunes... really, keep it up! (I would love to see a lesson for Metropolis Pt1 - Dream Theater, even if it takes an incredible amount of time to practice it, bit by bit)

I like your teaching solo. I am getting hung up on that part at 7:19. Just making it connect is my problem.

Carl can you please redo these lessons and please for the love of god speed it up a little bit to show us what it sounds like at normal speed cause learning it slow doesn’t even make it sound like it at all and makes it so much harder.

hi, thanks a lot for this lesson. can you please clarify what is the rhythm for the riff at 7:43. is it a constant triplet rhythm through the lick. I feel that there is a sixteenth somewhere in there. when you do the bend the second time and come down and pull off to the 7th fret. the rhythm sort of changes in that bit from a constant triplet feel. Hope you can clarify, because its really really hard to do this at full speed especially with the slight rhythm change in the middle of that lick. thank you
