I made the 17 squares version into a puzzle using LEGO® bricks (building a frame with a side length of 4.65 squares), and somehow one of the people who tried it actually managed to find the solution at 0:56.

12 is missing. Is it just 4 x 4 like 13, 14, 15, 16

41: S
S = 4 - 1/(2 sqrt(3/(2 - 1847/(6605 + 708 sqrt(12657))^(1/3) + (6605 + 708 sqrt(12657))^(1/3)))) + 1/2 sqrt(4/3 + 1847/(3 (6605 + 708 sqrt(12657))^(1/3)) - 1/3 (6605 + 708 sqrt(12657))^(1/3) + 60 sqrt(3/(2 - 1847/(6605 + 708 sqrt(12657))^(1/3) + (6605 + 708 sqrt(12657))^(1/3))))

Why isn’t 17’s just 5’s with 3 more on the corners?
