Salamu alykum my dear siblings in Islam. The point here is that he did not know right from wrong even when he tried his best because he did not have the required knowledge. The second thing I want you to realize is that scholars have said if there is a reason for a prayer you can pray it during the forbidden times (after asr prayer and from sunrise to 15-20ish minutes afterwards) for example if you happen to over sleep for some reason and wake up at 10 minutes after sunrise and you do wudu you can pray starting with 2 raka of sunnah of fajr then 2 of fajr the fard even if it is a prohibited time. The point of praying in the masjid 2 raka is to just pray so if you enter and iqama is being given and by the time you line up the prayer is gonna start and you pray the fard prayer, it will cover the 2 raka of greeting the masjid. Knowledge is the source of all good action and good action is source of all joy. Take care and please ask any questions you need, and make plenty of dua to Allah He loves when you call upon Him!
