Some of the Islamic Scholars said "Ibn Hazm's pen is sharper than Hajjaj's sword".

Ibn Hazm رحمه الله (or his school) also believed that you could see a girl fully naked before marriage and that if you didn't lie down to rest between the superogatory units of the dawn prayer and the obligatory units of the dawn prayer then your dawn prayer is null and void. So his literalism was a bit crazy.

I understand what you're saying, but ibn Hazm wasn't coming to juristic conclusions through any kind of women's lib or progressive framework. He had a juristic methodology, which denied (in theory) the legitimacy of analogical deduction in law, and simply applied it.

And it makes sense when you think about why that would lead to juristic conclusions that can appear more "liberal", because when you deny the jurist the ability to extend the law in scenarios they see as analogous to others where the law is applied, then you won't have a juristic ruling on many matters that most other schools of thought will.

Zahiri school isn't extinct, but it's not as popular as the foir main schools, you can find zahiri in yemen

The Zahiri’s have been given the translation “literalist” but this is not a correct interpretation and leads to a misunderstanding. Zahir means “apparent.” So his school was essentially saying that if the literal meaning of the Qur’an is more apparent then to go with that, and if the metaphorical meaning is more apparent then to go with that rather than doing analogies (Qiyās). The translation to “literalist” gives the Zahiris a bad and incorrect impression of being literalists by only taking literal meanings and not accepting metaphorical meanings.

We need a full video on this. You have so much knowledge about Muslim history that even we don’t know about.

You look so much like my son. He is 23 and in a rehab now. I will tell him about your content. I used to be a preacher in the church of Christ in Russia, but moved to the US, then was more into science and humanism, then stoicism, after about 3 years of following stoicism I was inadvertently moved to believing in Deity, as Stoics mention spirits and Zeus. But anyway, Everyone is unique, but I just wanted to say that if my son would become a Christian, I'd be so happy as he will need strength not to use.

Saying that Ibn Hazam allowed music, is not completely true. In fact, Ibn hazam could not verify the authenticity of a Hadith, to which the scholars refer to forbid music. Nevertheless, he literally stated that if later we can verify the authenticity of this Hadith, then I withdraw my statement.
The Hadith was later verified to be authentic.

I think 'textualist' is a better label for the Zahiris. Ibn Arabi was also a Zahiri yet no one considers him a "literalist." No true Muslim scholar is a "literalist." This term holds no value in religious interpretation.

I often think Muslims got the prohibition wrong. The abrogation was on not drinking, rather on drinking, therefore drink is allowed.

I like your objektive researches!
My main question is! How do you come to this almost authetic arabic pronaciation?
Maybe give some explanation in a shorts Video? 😊

it sounded weird saying that their school of thought prohibited (forcing) women to wear the veil, as far as my knowledge goes i don't think there is a school of thought where they allow that !!!
