"Joint custody is terrible...It exists for 'the dad' to get out of paying child support." As someone who's primary parent has been his father since the divorce. This kinda pisses me off. My parents made it their mission to NEVER get into any sorts of squabbles or speak ill of each other to me at that point. Especially, since they still made it an effort to make sure i got to see, spend time with, and live with both of them. Admittedly, this became less common after dad and i moved states became the highschool I'd be going to was terrible, but they still made an effort even if it was a semi-rare occurrence

Notice how she completely avoided the actual scientific evidence that having both parents involved in a child's life, assuming they aren't some sort of violent or actual crazy person, is beneficial. She just side stepped the main argument that it is better for the child.

joint custody is also a great way to prevent weaponization towards one parent and isolationism from another parent

Her implication being (other than that he's not really the father) that men care so little about their own children that the only reason they'd want to have them in their lives is to save a buck. This pisses me off more the more I think about it.

As a man who had custody of his son and was a single parent I say only that mom got him whenever she wanted and thinks we did the best thing. He's a very successful psychologist in NY.

*Edit: I forgot to mention that I didn't require Mom to pay a single penny of support, which took allot of convincing to the powers that be. I told Mom to spend that money making her time with him the best time. It all worked beautifully.

I’ve looked after our children for 10 years with them seeing their mother on alternate weekends.
She made enormous fuss about child support when she had them initially but since they came home a decade ago, has so far paid nothing.

Too many women forget child support is supposed to be for the child not for personal things for the mother.
