As a tech person. I suggest SSD only for OS, 4K editing video Storage, Application and games. If you want to keep your personal data safe for years. HDD is better option till you protect it physically

Well this is reality of low end hardware - like Nvidia GT 1030 VRAM was changed from DDR5 To DDR4...But SSDs have become really affordable over the years.

None of this matters. The law of electronics is that if it survived their warranty period+2 years, it will work for a long time.

Hi, guys i am writing this comment for general information. So which ever hardrdrive or ssd company you use or buy, just keep a monitoring software like " Hard disk Sentinel" to monitor your drives it helps a lot. If there are bad sectors or any critical problem with your drives it will let you know before hand and will buy you some time to backup the data.

Bought a Samsung 860 Evo in 2017, it still runs amazing. Always better to buy a reliable brand as opposed to a local or a shady brand.

It narrows down ultimately to usecase

If someone only stores media like movies, songs for entertainment purposes then, cheap SSD is better option

If someone is storing his own hardwork in form of codes, designs, study materials, creative artworks, datalogs, then your pov of reliability should be given top notch priority at extra premium is valid

The year was 2010, I got a Seagate external hard disk of 1 tb. It was something extraordinary to have 1 tb at that time. Gave it to my friend to transfer all the movie masti and magic but it died with in 2 weeks. I loved the content but after that I replaced my hdd but never got that data back as my friend also removed it. Today that hdd (ripped out of external case), I got as replacement is serving in my main gaming PC.

I got WD Green 1 tb ssd for 5.5k rs. And, I am seeing HDD prices in the range of 4-5k rs. Is it obvious that solid state drives last much longer than moving parts in the form of HDD, especially when you want to store personal data where TBW values stay low for decades? I didn't see the cases of SSDs dying out even with 300+ TBW where HDD dies out easily

SSD/pendrive/memory card is only for regular fast access data. For archival purposes HDD is best. I lost all my data in Kingston ssd even it was being used regularly, lost my school pics in sandisk micro sd as it wasn't plugged in for many years. Always regularly connect all unused pendrives/ssd/sd cards - maybe every 6mth.

Yup, reliability is true factor. We are so called technically advanced but still we don't have any device which can hold data for few decades. By this view, pen and papers are ultra reliable things. Maybe these can hold a very small amount of data but they can hold it for centuries with little effort.
